Spiritual Unfoldment with John Butler

We are all made differently. Some are more “heady“, some are more “hearty“. It is sound advice to follow your heart. That’s what I’ve done. The love of my farm. The love of nature. Love of space. Love of freedom. “Don’t fence me in“. Follow what you love. When you pray, pray what you love.

@pawshands9706 "What can you say about God then, John?". John-"I'm not afraid to say when I don't know, so I'll say I can say nothing about God really-except that, the word being just one syllable, it's not a bad word to have in place of 'whatever unknown thing caused the existence of everything', is it!?".

It’s been a long while since I have listened to John. I have been so down lately and I’m taking life way too seriously. Just this video alone has me laughing with joy, I am ashamed at how much I have missed for no reason other than my own selfishness. Thank you John, it finally feels like I have permission to take off my mask.

ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE!!!!!! ❤ REFRESHING ALWAYS! Every word feels like the wind, a fresh breeze blowing through me. "I love silence." Yes! Ahhhhhhh ❤ John. I find you to be such a kindred spirit. Yes. Nature has always been my "guru" also, not trusting in the words of man. How wise...... Many blessings to you, Phil & all. Thank you for your humility. I have gained so much listening to you 😊

Great to see a genuine article of life become Master on his own terms. Silence is cryptic, there is no such thing without very special training is what I hear you saying here John, I wonder even with the 86 years of training is there still such a thing as silence in your opinion? Thank you Sir. A silent answer would be my ❤️

Is our own ego the biggest enemy?

I came to watch John tonight because I had a thought about sense of self and how we overemphasize it. I think our ego is most definitely our enemy, right up there with pride and selfishness
@XJRSuper
@XJRSuper 3 ай бұрын
Whilst I enjoy listening to John and his calm manner, I do think the idea he often references about denying the ego is a touch ironic. Not sure one can be more egotistical than to conclude that we have a spiritual existence, that a God values it and is somehow connected to it, and that life has some sort of deep meaning. I'd argue that's quite a bit more egotistical than concluding reflective intelligence is an evolutionary quirk, there is no great meaning just because one's personality tends towards the emotional and socially awkward, and that perhaps some level of peace with the nature of existence can be found just as well in recognising the meaninglessness of it. In some ways that's freeing - not nihilistic, but allows actual engagement with the present. Friends, Family, Nature (sure), Sport, Theatre, Cars. Whatever it is that you like. I'm cautious about anyone who's speaking at length about how they don't have answers and one should park the ego. I don't think John has any ill-intent, but I think it's an irony worth noting if you're interested in truth.

The point you are making is known as absurdism, a response to existentialism. Albert Camus’s Myth of Sisyphus is probably the best thing to read regarding that
