This is a short tutorial for praying with an Anglican Rosary or 'prayer beads'. The Christian practice of counting prayers goes back to at least the 3rd century, and has remained central to Christian devotions through to the present.
This form of prayer is specifically designed for Anglican use, although it can be adapted to other traditions.
For further examples of prayers that can be used on a set of Anglican Prayer Beads, I highly recommend the book "Praying with Beads: Daily Prayers for the Christian Year" by Deorr and Owens - www.eerdmans.com/Products/2727/praying-with-beads.aspx

My late mother made prayer beads to give away. When she died, I found several sets among her things and gave them to family. I kept a set for myself but I never used them. I ran across them the other day and then stumbled on this video. Thank you for the easily understood explanation. I will start using my mother's gift.

I'm neither Catholic, nor Anglican, but I am a Christian, and I've always admired the idea of a rosary/tactile prayer ritual to keep our mind focused. I never felt super comfortable with a Marian devotion, but the Anglican rosary is just what I was looking for! I am learning it for my own prayer life and it has brought me closer to Christ. Thank you for this video!

Thank you for your kind words. When I first encountered this style of prayer, it felt like a light bulb came on for me. It helped me to focus my mind clearly and intensely on the presence of God while meditating on the truth proclaimed in Scripture. Obviously, this practice isn't for everyone, but it clicked for me - and I'm happy to share the simple practices with others

I could have written your comment word for word! I am a Christian too and belong to the conservative Mennonite Church. I was looking for something more structured for my prayer life and last year discovered the online Morning Prayer service from Canterbury Cathedral and have been a member of the “Garden Congregation” ever since. From that, I was led to the Anglican Rosary and made my own rosary. I too, do not feel comfortable praying to Mary, so the Anglican Rosary is perfect for me. I am easily distracted, so a tactile system works very well for me. God bless!

I’m protestant and I find great peace and comfort in the Anglican and Episcopalian Faith‘s. I recently had a dream involving Mary and in the vision, she told me to pray the rosary. I’ve just been praying a regular rosary and thanking Jesus and praising him and also saying some Hail Marys, and asking for the Holy Spirit to be with me, and I have found that praying with a rosary has really helped to calm my chronic anxiety and helped me to center myself in a meditative state of prayer and peace. God bless you.

With great surprise I found out yesterday that there is also an Anglican rosary. I am a born Protestant but very messianic inclined, but am actually considering buying a rosary. Clearly from the rosary no power goes out nevertheless it is a clear sign for the faith. In addition, the Anglican rosary fits exactly vo Rythmus to my 3 prayer times. The main bead Our Father 1. small bead Prayer for all the saints in the world 2nd bead: prayer for me 3rd bead: Prayer for enemies 4th bead for own family 5th bead : Intercession for certain people 6th bead : For the government 7th bead : For all people. Thank you for your video and information. God bless you.

More ritualism from the followers of Newman and Pusey. We dispensed with the rosary at the time of the Reformation. This is just another step on the road to the desired unity with Rome. The Anglican church I grew up in would recoil from such a practice. It's a pity that the church and the faith for which so many good men died has been cast aside. Faith alone, in God alone, through Christ alone. No more is needed.

@StAidansNicholasville
@StAidansNicholasville 2 жыл бұрын
I cut the end off of the strand, and removed the nylon filament fibers. You'll need to measure out an extra length of cord because the hollow paracord is still much thicker than the nylon cordage I typically use, but you can tie the knots normally once that's done. If you'd like, I can try to put together a short demo video of tying the knots at some point.

@@jacobprice6948 I would propably be considered a somekind of charismatic evangelical but I do get the sentiment. It's just that the admiration and attention is something I am not comfortable with. I understand that one could hail someone who has went to heaven and ask for help. I could ask my grandfather to pray for me when I have hard time. If he happens to be listening he surely prays for me as would I do in his place. However if I treat him as I should as alive human being I am not going to repeatedly ask him 54 times to pray for me. That is what I do with God. I knock on the door to show I want to be near in his presence and align my existence with his will and I already appreciate that he knows what I need. After all I don't call my mother and ask her multiple times in a row to pray for me. That is where my discomfort lies. In my eyes I am no longer asking someone to pray for me like I would ask a human. I am at that point asking them to help me like I ask God and that is heresy in my eyes a heresy. I think God would very much appreciate me giving that attention to him rather than spending time talking to one of His children.

Said in love ♥️ Rosary beads are idolatry, and actually block contact with the Holy Spirit. Your spirit relying on another item to be able to talk to the LORD blocks the spirit from letting go to Him. Another is the bible DOES NOT require us to pray to Mary. Mary was a human being like you and I and God said we make no communication with the dead. God would not go back on His word. We as followers of Christ are expected to emulate Jesus and He prayed to the Father which is what we should do. God bless 🕊

It doesn't sound like you took the time to watch the video. In the spirit of Christian charity and as a pastor, let me gently encourage you to pause before commenting and replying until you've taken time to listen, consider, and study. The use of prayer beads in the Christian faith goes back to at least the 6th century - meaning that it has been a central part of Christian devotional practices around the world for more than 1500 years. It is hubris to say that for the last millennia and a half Christians haven't communed with the Holy Spirit. Prayer beads are a devotional tool. Tools can be misused - but "misuse does not negate proper use" as St. Augustine said. Peace & Blessings to you.

@@StAidansNicholasville as a member of the church I appreciate your charity, thank you for all you do however I’m interested on what you think about what Jesus said in his sermon in Matthew 6:7 “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” The purpose of the beads to the help count the prayers and tell which prayer to say.
@StAidansNicholasville
@StAidansNicholasville 3 жыл бұрын
@@JESUSLOVESYOU219 'battologesete' doesn't mean "repetition". That is an error. It means 'babbling', 'yammering', or 'long-winded' - you'll notice from the context that Jesus is critiquing public piety versus private devotion. In giving the disciples a prayer to repeat/imitate (see v. 9ff), Jesus is outlining what our prayer ought to look like - that is consistent, concise, and clear.
