I have a great fondness for Ginger Rogers...and, I've never seen her with Astaire. She's pretty and a very good comedienne...

@beeje Actually I had the opportunity to meet her many years ago and got a feel for what she liked and disliked. She was rather old fashioned and highly disapproved of the Turner Co. colorizing her old movies. However, as I said, she is no longer around and people are free to enjoy her image as they wish. I found the music rather jarring, as I was looking for (and thought this might be) her routine from Upper World called "Shake Your Powder Puff." Thanks for your response.

@learningrichard I have to agree completely. The music is a real distraction. I could not like that song under any pretenses. Something more romantic, flowing or traditional, please. On the other hand... thanks for posting pictures of Ginger Rodgers. I think she is a terrific actress, forgotten or never given credit for her comic appeal and diversity. And I have never even seen her dance. I think she is supreme.

Why do you hate Pre code?It was a time in motion picture history that acctually allowed women to be strong and have a voice in films.I love pre codes.

'Pre-Code' means there were groups against many things. A former Postmaster general got appointed to come up with a movie code. Stupid Things like married couples n a movie had to have separate beds. Both actors had to keep one foot on the floor, off camera, while their bed room scene was being filmed. Lots of stupid stuff.

@Microglia1, sorry about it but those were different times, at least they had quality films back them. Today, there is no exclusion or oppression of anyone in films. Everyone is forced to play the same stupid parts all over again, is it better that way now?.

@microglia1 Hattie McDaniel, Anna Wong, Bill Robinson, Lena Horne, Dolores Del Rio, Sidney Poitier, Josephine Baker, Sammie, and everyone else would beg to differ. You should love this period of film history, because those that made it big when that wasnt the status quo make them all the more amazing. Most of the directors were jewish, german, or russian, Selznick was dominican. Blind hatred goes both ways i guess, like beeje said, people are people. (youtube wouldnt let me hit reply, sry)

@Microglia1 Get real! Things got far worse after May 1934 with the enforcement of the Production Code. Pre code movies rock (watch 1933's "Babyface" and rethink your opinion...).

this music is completely out of place with the pre code time period. Seems like you could've found an appropriate tune from at least within 20 years of 1931.

@Microglia1 Get over it, it already happened. Movies at this time were supposed to put the audience into a world they wanted. And that is what they wanted. Just be thankful to live in a world you like.....I sure don't.

Ginger Rogers was not at all a *sexy* woman in her otherwise serious, prim-and-proper private life, nor was she a product of the casting couch, and for the simple reason that - both before and after her various *Hollywood* marriages - she lived with, and was accompanied by, her hard-nosed, sentinel mentor mother, at all times. Actors, in private life, are generally not all that they might seem to be when on-stage, and in this respect Ginger was no exception.

Ginger, unfortunately, would not have liked the music. Fortunately she will not hear it, so go ahead and play whatever you like. Approving comments? Well, that is one way to have everyone seem to agree with you.

I agree the music sucks, in the amount of sucking done by Siouxie and the Banshees.
