Do you think there are some secret terms in UGRAD when it comes to nominating the students like who has the highest GPA or who has the highest TOFEL/ IELTS marks or who has the best reasons why they want to join UGRAD?

It's not about the scores - being excellent academically doesn't really mean much (contrary to popular belief). It's about how well you sell yourself and justify why you deserve the scholarship - which is why the essays are super important.

I'm currently in a double-degree program, so I'm waiting for the lengthy bureaucratic process (which involves agreements among three parties)

Hi Ng, i found that we will be required to provide the transcripts via online student portal in July, should the transcript at this time contain the new score? or is it the same as the score submitted during registration? Because the Academic Affairs Office of my school will stop working in two weeks, and before that I can only get the old transcripts...

Hi Anibal! One of the criteria to applying for this scholarship is to have completed a minimum of your first semester. So in your situation, you will have to apply for the program when you're at least in your second semester. I spoke about it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jNmefth2p7bLYnk.html

Thank you for this useful video. In your previous videos you've said that in interview you explained them that why do you read this book(like hobby) for. Do we need to give an explanation for each answer? I'm a bit shy to speak. Maybe I couldn't explain myself during interview. What can you offer about this to me? And can you make a video about TOEFL test?

Hi Dilbər! You're welcome! Yes, I believe an explanation is needed for each answer because the point of the interview is for them to hear what you have to say - your opinions and thought process... just like a job interview would go. Practice among your friends and family, perhaps? What specifically about the TOEFL test would you like to know?

@@nhatnguyenanh5731 ah, I see! World Learning has a list of partner universities that are part of the program. The university placements will be appointed by World Learning once the finalists have been selected.

Hi Azam, I don't know what aminef is, but once I took TOEFL, it automatically sends the results to World Learning.

Hi Suhaila, yes! Participants from the same country will not go to the same university. This is to encourage diversity and mixing of cultures.

Hi! I have been selected as finalist from GLOBAL UGRAD and got official letter from Fulbright and World Learning. My concern is that, I am currently pursuing my major in Mathematics subject but there in the US, I am looking for pursuing Foreign Service or Economic Diplomacy subject. This is because there is huge difference between course content of mathematics when comparing my home university and US university. similarly, pursuing afore mentioned subject will help me a lot in my career. Can I do this and if yes what should I do?

I’m applying to the program and I would really appreciate it if you reply to my question. So regarding the toefl exam, do i do it if my application is accepted or should i do it even before I apply then add it the application... also how long does it take for the program to announce the accepted ones? Hi Shoki, it's up to you when you want to take TOEFL, I would recommend to do it after the selection period because: 1) if you're selected, the test will be paid for 2) if you pay on your own to input into the application, you don't get your money back whether you get selected or not. Regarding the timeline, I'm not sure anymore as it has changed, but usually around 2-3 months after the deadline has closed. Hi, it should be ok to apply without the passport. If selected, then you will apply for it. No, passport fee is not covered under this program.

Hi, Naomi! Thank you for the video! How much is the monthly stipend that you get? And maybe very relative question, but how much money do you think one should take to be able to live through the semester in the US and perhaps travel to 3-4 cities/states?

Hi, Дурдона! The stipend is enough to get you through, considering room & board (and university bus), and books are covered separately. So the stipend is for your expenses. If you want to travel more than comfortably, then it's up to you! You can check Skyscanner/Greyhound/Bolt Bus etc, and Agoda/Airbnb for to have an estimate for the expenses

Not that I know of, TOEFL is just to assess the English language proficiency, whereby below the minimum would probably require the candidate to attend extra English classes. You're welcome and congrats on getting to the interview stage! Good luck :)

Hi Otabek, you can still visit as a tourist. The 2-year restriction is for studies/work/any other long term stay in the US.

Hello Mark, I believe you can select your preferred intake on the application form (not sure if it has changed though). However, ultimately, World Learning determines the intake :)

@@markandreigamboa5547 not a restriction on leaving your country, but a two-year home residency. Basically means you can't go back to the US in 2 years for studies/work/permanent residence. You should Google about J-1 visa - that's the visa for the program.

Hi Mahlet, glad my videos have been helpful! Does the email mention you've passed the interview and you'll be part of the 2020/2021 cohort? TOEFL is usually done for the universities, not so much the scholarship. If unsure, best to contact your local organisation in charge.

Hi Syeda, the interview would be conducted sometime in February, so those shortlisted will be contacted via email around a week or two before that.

Hi, you will be opening an American bank account to receive the monthly stipend. Regarding the credit card, it's up to you - nothing's gonna happen lol How much you need also depends on how your expenditure is like. Living frugally, the stipend is good enough.

Hi Isha, congratulations on getting through the first round! Yes, it is a J-1 visa requirement which requires you to return to your home country for 2 years. You can ask your advisor for more info on that :)

Hi, Naomi! I got selected as a finalist! Had a quick question regarding the pre-arrival information. The online application platform doesn't show anything regarding pre-arrival for "uploading information" while the email says it does. Did you have the same issue?

Hi Siddhi, congratulations on being a finalist! No, I didn't encounter that issue. All the required documents should be on the same platform as the application. Did the email provide a link to it, as well? For technical questions, it's best to refer to World Learning :)

Hi Andrea, nope, not at all! As long as you pass the minimum TOEFL score, you should be good to go.

Hi Naomi Ng again. You said that in May you were fully confirmed and did you go to your university till next december? And you got your student ID from your university or host institution? Is it necessary to study the next year? I just want to stop. what will happen if I stop studying next year?

Hi Zoirsho, hmm.. I went in December of the same year. The student ID would be from the host institution as your home university would not have anything to do with your host institution/exchange program. You MUST have AT LEAST one semester to complete after your exchange program - that's one of the eligibility criteria.

hi Naomi I'm selected as an alternate candidate. I have questions regarding the Vaccination History do we need to take all the vaccine that stated or only the one we have gotten? and i also never receive my University placement yet. Does that mean i'm still in process?

Hi Priya! You will need to state clearly the history of which vaccination you have gotten, and take those which you have not. Yes, being an alternate candidate means you're first in line if a finalist does not participate.

I got an ph call that I got selected for interview but didnt got an email... Its probably becoz a coup happened in our country Myanmar and connection are cut off in many places.. Still I'm worried and the interview is in 2 days... Sorry for my long letter 😣

I don't think so, as it has to be in time for the universities' document submission deadline. It really depends.

Hi Chaima, the interview will be held at office of whichever organisation is handling your country's Global UGRAD program. At least for Malaysia, it is.

@@sabinalyv5620 Regarding your transcripts, you have to upload ALL your transcripts from the first semester till the present. As for the visa requirement, the 2-year rule is more for those who want to go back to the U.S. for residence/long-term visa purpose i.e. study, work..etc (other than tourism). You can still leave your country. Google about the J-1 visa to find out more.

May I ask what did they tell you before you before taking the toefl? Did they just ask you to take the test or you were considered as a nominee?

Hi Amira, it was a different process back then. I was only asked to take the TOEFL after being selected as a finalist.

@@amirasalvador604 a finalist, a scholar, a participant. In situations where you're confused whether or not you got the scholarship, it's best to reach out directly to World Learning instead of assuming/being in doubt.
