I am so looking forward to seeing your competition video, and as I have said in the past, you both are skating with such precision and grace. I think I mentioned that I have enrolled in the Adult Skate program here in Toronto, and the first session went really well. I really like the coach and I think that I am going to consult with him on having more private coaching with him as we progress through the fundamentals. I have one question that I know you can answer. I am currently skating with Freestyle blades and my focus is going to be on Dance. I have a nice pair of boots with Dance blades, and I was wondering when you switched over to dance blades was there a huge adjustment? Also are there pro's and con's to these blades vs. freestyles. Any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated. I hope Bruno is feeling better and Happy Skating to you both. Remember, you have four more years before the next Olympics. !!

Honestly, for us the blades were barely an adjustment at all. If anything, we both loved the switch because it was generally an upgrade in blade for both of us! That being said though, I gotta point out our blades are JW Coronation Dance, which are not typical/pure dance blades - they have a proper full sized toe picks that normal dance blades usually don’t. So, the only major difference for us was the shorter tail really. We got used to it pretty much instantly though. I (Fae) personally prefer short blades - I’m now not constantly terrified of stepping on my own tails or stepping on Bruno’s when we skate together. It’s amazing!

@@brunoandfae Thankyou Fae, I really appreciate that. I have the Jackson Apex blade, which doesn't have the traditional pick, however I have skated in them a couple of times, and didn't have an issue with the drag pick being less noticeable so to speak. I have read that edges are so much better to control, and that spins and swizzles are ok, but take a bit of time to adjust to. I am sticking with the freestyles for now until I grow more confident, and find my centre of balance. Once there, I will graduate to the dance blade. Keep up all of your wonderful work, as you are a constant source of inspiration.

Still waiting on the Nationals video, or did I miss it??! I know you’re out of the country

You didn’t - they have never released the competition footage.. 😭 or at least not so far. We’re heartbroken, because they wouldn’t let anyone film themselves since there was an official videographer, but then the official footage never got published.

Your coach said you will stay at pre-silver always? He’s joking, right?

Haha, he’s very strict! 😅 and not happy with our edge quality… He’s also very stoic and does not show much emotion (unless we really piss him off hahaha 🤪) - so, it’s often hard to tell when he’s joking and when he’s being serious… 😂 We love him though, he’s the best!
