Extra extra movement tip - You can fly upside down and stay upside down (and make your character model go into terrain) if you stop pitching up when you're upside down and don't use the right mouse at all. @@Scarage21 Well, it's meant to be a guide for *everybody*, right? So you learn stutter stepping, you learn how to move, you apply that to all classes because those are the basics and fundamentals. *Then* you learn about Spiritwalker's Grace - which is only available to shaman. The thing is, though, it's a cooldown, so you can't always use it, so if you really want to maximize the benefits and only use it when you really need to, guess what you have to learn first? Gotta teach the newbs how to breathe before they can swim.

A keybind video would be good, there is an old one in the get good for Christmas series, and on that note an updated UI basics video would be good, I think keybinds and a good UI are something you almost need before you do anything endgame

problem is keybinds are purely personal, I am left handed and play left handed. you cant take someone's keybinds and expect to have the same results. what he could do is go through a list of the "better" keys to start binding. 1234 then shift modifiers then qrt for example.

@@pwnedsocks oh yeah if you have ever heard Mike talk about his actual keybinds it's generally a good laugh as everyone trolls him about it, a basic video though on why it's better and some idea on good keys to try using, it's more thinking in line with the idea of the basics I think rather than a guide on it though

It's a sensitive topic because i.e i don't use the conventional 1 2 3 4 binds, i used to play mobas a lot and i've binded everything to dota1/2 style and i could never imagine myself using those standard binds for main dps spells. It's not just me, i've seen Lip from Limit using (eerily enough) exactly the same keybinds as i do which made me happy cause friends would bully me whenever they'd see them. It all depends on personal preference/type of games you've played before WoW.

Lmfao i dont want to sound mean but if you need help moving on a melee toon you have alot bigger issues. Melee can move freely all the time except for dh with eyebeam

I think at least the PvP dancing should have it's own video for melee.

@@andrevachon1616 oof, imagine discussing a nuanced topic like movement and being disingenuous about movement for melee because they can attack while moving only in melee range... raid bosses constantly make everyone move, and melee are ripped out of melee range constantly in high end content. They are responsible for keeping high uptime as well by properly using movement abilities to weave in and out of range while also utilizing semi range abilities in classes like Pally (judgement and blade of wrath) or enhancement shaman. Maybe, instead of trash talking, you can work on fixing your ignorance and learn something new instead of trying to bring others down

@@SYL3NZR i mentioned that because preach made a point of how its important to minimize movement, which can easily make people think that its solely the tanks job to run all over the place and try to pick up everything. also from my experience this is one of the most common mistakes in normals, which is also the place where youd find most inexperienced people.

@@hristopavlov298 stutterstep implies there are casts you can and cannot do on the move, and the latter is absent in melee rotations. But sure, I guess they also jump on the spot a lot, and wiggle around, and do other crazy stuff that I could never understand WHY as ranged main. Too many fingers, too few buttons to press?

@@AutodidaktKrakiler I main elemental shaman. it's significantly easier to move without losing dps when you have lava surge, earth shock, icefury, stormkeeper and spiritwalker's grace than say a destruction warlock which only has conflagrate to use while moving.

I mean, there will absolutely be moonkins watching this who don't pick Stellar Drift because of something they have seen on Icy Veins etc. or aren't using Starfall to cast on the move.

And what is Balance casting when it doesn't have the required Lunar Power for Starfall..? they're casting Wrath, Starfire and refreshing DoTs, they're stutter stepping; what Preach mentions still applies. Also worth noting that Starfall with that talent only lasts 10 seconds, so while allowing full freedom of movement it's at the cost of almost 2 Starsurges every 10 seconds, which is a notable loss of damage especially in the context of movement since Starsurge is instant cast.

Those problems have less to do with WoW and more to do with having respect for other people. So a WoW Basics series that focuses solely on gameplay really isn't the best platform for that conversation.

No one said the Basics series had to be so rigid as to not discuss anything that isn't about actual game mechanics. Which platform would you recommend? I find it hard to see how anything would have a better chance at making a dent than having our man Preach talk with them about it. It's not like they're gonna give a shit if Hazel makes a video about it. Am I right?

​@@Forty2de a few things here before i get to the main problem. first off, the WoW Basics series and teaching people to have respect no matter how "basic" that is are very different topics. thats not what this series is about. and that leads into my 2nd point. Mike has never done that with his youtube channel or stream. nor is it any other content creators job or responsibility to do it. it's not their place to teach people how to behave. And lastly and really the main problem here is you talking about how people need to have more respect for others. then you disrespect Hazel. and no, you're not right you hypocrite. just because it's Hazel doesn't mean her saying it would have any less of an affect on the community. and yes there is a problem but it's not "dire". don't be so dramatic. i wont be responding further to this. i won't give a hypocrite any more of my time.

I am saying that people who like to disrespect others and stigmatize things like autism are probably not the same audience who likes pet battles and the kind of content that Hazel focuses on. They're much more likely to be elitists, they're more likely to be in Mike's audience than Hazel's, they're not as wholesome as Hazel. And yes, it is pretty dire, have you played Classic? What is your issue with letting Mike take a crack at this? I don't think he's so rigid that he can't let himself have a talk with the boys if he feels like it. Personal preference because everyone has their own playing styles based on their past experiences with PC gaming (and keyboards), finger length, hand size, handedness, and even injury. There's a reason there are like ten different 12-button MMO mouses on the market today, and even then, not everyone uses one. All you can do is find the play style that works best for you and refine the hell out of it. If someone suggests something different, give it a go and see if it works.
