Would be cool to see a “Lessons Learned” since you made this series. I have been messing with this just recently, I don’t go into any in depth analysis with this stuff but I think your Soy Bean field would have been a 99 if you went over it with a fertilizer with the sensor on, it won’t spread anything but give you credit for fertilizing. Also you can plow a field and then use a direct drill seeder and still get the max tillage score. Whenever I buy a new field I just go ahead and plow it since I have plowing on and as long as I use the correct seeder I still get high scores. Also if you don’t have weeds just drive over it with the auto direct sprayer, it won’t spray anything but will give you credit for weeding.

It took watching you, Scroft, and a handful of other KZfaq tutorials (ALL were helpful, so thank you and thanks to the others who made videos as well) and managed to start understanding PF. Based on all the videos I have started getting the best results with the work order of Samples, Mulch, Lime, Seed/Plane, Roll, Slurry, Spot Spray (Growth Stage 1), Fertilize (Mid Growth Stage), Harvest, Repeat. I did discover that if I forget to have my settings so that the Ai worker does NOT buy fertilizer, and I forget to make sure that a drill that has fertilizer capability is empty, it has disastrous results on the nitrogen score. I've also found that the Chopped Straw mod screws the same score up due to the extra nitrogen dropped from it, so I had to clear that mod out for PF. Other than those two quirks, I've managed a 98 so far. Hopefully I'll hit 100 on a fresh save, as I'm sure experimenting is what is blocking my current map save from any fields getting 100. Great info FK. Also bumped into out dated field data (that would explain the fading colors when looking from the PF map). I couldn't auto apply fertilizer on grass. Seems that after the 6th crop harvest, you need to buy soil sampling again.

When i roll after seeding the crop is destroyed. Any idea why?

Does Environmental Score translate to complex or finished goods like cereal, flower, or bread? Or is it only for sales of base crops? I kind of assume this bonus to sales price that we are getting comes as a result of some company getting to slap "sustainably farmed" or "organically farmed" or whatever the FDA equivalent in the region lets them claim, and up-charging. If the bonus is coming from something like that, one would think the price bonus would still apply to the finished goods, and give their greater prices, the 10% bonus would got a lot farther. That is assuming it works that way at all, hence my question. Thanks in advance to any one with an answer!

Hopefully someone else can answer this for you as I have not had a chance to actually play the game since PF was released to know if the bonus extends beyond direct selling of crops.

Great guide series. What's the deal with solid manure now? Is it no longer worth spreading?

Solid does the same as it did in PF for FS19. It applies a fixed amount of nitrogen to the soil per application per soil type just like slurry or digestate.

Slurry and Manure which are organic fertilizers give higher score

That is not correct you can obtain 100 EV score with using chemcial fertilizers.

Great set of videos really enjoyed them and I now have an understanding of what PF is all about, and I must say I'm not impressed at all, I will use it because it's a new toy, but very disappointed with how giants have implemented it,. What happened to any new animations we should have had with the equipment that uses PF NOTHING except the spryer, so if you are a number cruncher this is for you if you are a gamer and expected animations with PF nothing to get excited about in fact I think the mod is broke I expect modders will come to the rescue again and fix it. For me, there should be a way to change/improve your soil type?.

Im not really sure farmers in real life can change their soil in any broad meaningful way. I did not go into it in the FS22 Precision farming videos and maybe I should have but I think in FS19's videos I did touch lightly on what sandy loam, loamy sand, loam and silty clay where with respect to each other. I assume many are like me and had no idea what any of these soil classifications where. When I looked it up they all related to the ratio of sand to clay in the soil. It might be possible to add sand to silty clay to bring it up to loam but how much would need to go into that and for what duration of benefit before wind and soil erosion would take the ground back to its default state. This is all general speculation other than the sand to soil ratio that I recall from looking up the soil types when PF19 released.
