this movie so underrated. It is not superior to the first film, but it expanded the franchise in a good way. The new franchise has been corrupted.

Kudos to Keyes. He's done his homework. Presumably thinking that the liquid nitrogen would be a double-whammy of taking the predator alive AND preventing the self-destruct mechanism from properly firing. Huge arsehole for attempting this within a city though. Also by returning to the same location to feed every couple of days, it's clear that the Predator vastly underestimated the deductive abilities of his human prey. Seems almost grossly negligent. A predator ending up getting hunted whilst on a hunt! Whilst he succeeded in escaping the trap, I doubt the older predators watching will be impressed. If anything, their respect for Earth as a hunting ground would likely be greatly increased. How many other species actively hunt the predators back? And custom design dedicated weaponry to do so?

When he said Iwo Jima and Cambodia, I want a Predator film set in WW2 and Vietnam war.

I like how, rather than be argumentative and disbelieving, Harrigan actually listens to what the agents have to say, because until this point he still really doesn't know what he's up against.

I don't care what ANYONE says, Predator 2 is an awesome movie. It has nothing to do with nostalgia either. Everything from the environment, to the atmosphere, to the actors, to the side stories, and especially a kick ass performance from Danny Glover, made this an awesome sequel. This movie truly scared me as a kid, even more then the 1st.

Time has really redeemed this movie. I didn't really mind Predators - it was too predictable in places and didn't have balls enough to just be itself - but this is by far the best sequel.

I need Gary to tell me bed time stories like this so I can go to sleep better.

I watched this movie over 100 times back in the 90s when growing up. It was such an awesome sequel. Danny Glover was so stellar and Gary Busey is just a joy to watch with all his intense energy. How I miss these old times!

I love how their interaction changes so much when they reach this point, and also how they behave: the willingness to explain by Keyes and the surprise of Harrigan, instead of anger and fear

At 1:12 you can actually see Anna (Elpidia Carillo) from "Predator 1" on the first monitor - she's even in the closing credits. In the original script, they were supposed to play back a video shot by the CIA where she talks about how the Predator makes itself invisible - apparently, they shot it but cut it from the final movie. I still hope someday we'll get to see a workprint or all the deleted footage.

The City Hunter gave us chills, accept it people.

Keys's fatal flaw was failing to account for the predator's ability to adapt to suspect circumstances. He can still hear, so excess noise alerted him to the team's presence. Also assuming it could only see in thermal vision was a mistake. It had advanced technology and targeting systems. Surely they had to have known about the laser guided plasma caster and the mask, so being able to see in alternate spectrums of light wasn't a stretch. His overwatch crew in the trailer wasn't much help either. "He's right there! He's right there!" Where the fuck is there? On the moon? How about "Two floors up, east of you"? Oh well, RIP to those poor bastards.

I remember "stumbling," across this when I was 14 and it was the summer holidays. I watched it on my own at home and had no expectations, I was killing time but my goodness was I in for a huge treat. I adore this film and always will and that day in the school holidays sticks in my head some thirty years later as an amazing day. I really didn't expect such a great film and great action and fun and interesting Sci Fi. I love this film

I've heard some people say the Predator recklessly jumping into the middle of the team to kill them is out of character but I'd say I've come up with a good in-universe explanation as to why he did so. The Predator was shocked and pissed they'd nearly got one up on him. That moment he sees the team, due to the preparation and obvious knowledge the team possesses, the Predator realises they've clearly been watching him and planning this for a while. Remember the Predator sees itself as a superior species and so this infuriated him... Now he was on the opposite side, HE was the one being hunted. He lashes out. And wanted to show them who's boss.

Are you even a predator fan if you didn't like this when it came out? I've always loved this movie. I like all predator movies in general. Some more than others, but I love seeing them all

This is a good movie. It's just not the instant classic the first one was.

Said it before & I'll say it again, Predator 2 is a sequel that was done right. Does it have flaws? Sure, but it also respected what came before in the original, expanded on the lore and weapons of the Predator just enough, we saw a lot more of the Predator, Kevin Peter Hall (RIP) played City Hunter differently from Jungle Hunter to give him his own distinction, great cast, very well done action scenes, awesome setting having it take place in the city, cool take having it be a detective story, etc. It wasn't just a retread of the original and expanded on and or changed on the important aspects to make it just that. Director Stephen Hopkins did a very solid job with it, especially when you take into account he had to work on Nightmare On Elm Street 5 The Dream Child (during a writer's strike mind you) and Predator 2 at the same time for a certain amount of time which is insane. While the original is still tops (for me personally) Predator 2 is awesome and is still the best sequel in the franchise.

There's too much CGI in cinema now. I loved Predator and Predator 2 because the suits were handmade which showed the level of detail, time and effort that went into them that brought the Predator to life.

Predator 2 is Nickelback of movies - solid performer on whom people shit not understanding why. It worked beautifully as sequel and standalone movie for anyone who missed first one. It kept true to original, but did not CLONE original and smartest thing about P2 was showing predator TO VIEWER early on (itself and action) and slightly altering narrative. The viewer knew who is who and there was no point in hiding Predator and his capabilities from viewer but still kept suspense on the protagonists. I also liked contrast between finesse, experienced, patient hunter from Predator and skillful, but impatient and gung-ho 2nd one. This happened to fit locations by the way - one had chosen quiet jungle, other steered into crowded warzone. Some moments - like the 'almost got it' in front of trophy shop, cemetery scene or one with King Willy were absolute badass. Also predator's ethics was nicely shown - again, scene on cemetery when he both teased protagonist with previous victim's necklace but spared the accidental kid with plastic toy gun or pregnant policewoman in subway. Predator 2 was great, and the only serious flaw in this movie, aside literally framing few scenes, was that it came second. Also pacing and narration was gain, top notch. It even had a trope when character (King Willy) foreshadows own demise in his own dialouge! PS: It also had Bill Paxton and awarded him singular honor of being killed by all three master villains of cinema - Predator, Terminator and Alien.

I saw this movie back in the 90's before I saw the original, and I loved it. It's a great horror film with the spicy action taste of that era, later when I saw the original I knew the sequel doesn't top it, but I'm glad I saw this one first, otherwise I wouldn't loved it, and to be honest it deserves to be loved.
