Absolutely agree, Arnies best film (yes I love the Terminator films, but he ain’t a warm character that you root for , in Predator he’s a proper hero that cares about the soldiers under his command and despite killing a whole bunch of bad guys, is still decent and honourable) ...also Predator 2, is (having now seen any and all sequels involving the Predator) a great sequel, but I always thought Danny Glover was an odd casting choice.

The guy who plays Pancho was actually a Vietnam Vet called Richard Chaves. His arguably most-well known role was Col Ironhorse in the War Of The Worlds TV Series.

Director *John McTiernan* repeated that foreign language melding into English conceit from *"The Hunt For Red October"* to even better effect in *"The Thirteenth Warrior"* - tracking in montage Antonio Bandares' Arabic character Ibn's gradual comprehension of Old Norse in the first reel while traveling with the band of 12 other Vikings. Later director *Brian Singer* did a variation on that technique in his WWII Hitler assassination plot movie *"Valkyrie"* staring Tom Cruise to get out of German and into English within the opening credits.

agreed it is a fun film, that is the key, a fun film... its almost like hte die hard formula got applied to predator in a creative way lol... i also like the begining with the jungle going to concrete jungle... feels like a very george lucas idea lol :) Because it rhymes and is understood at a innate level

123:40 - Skull with the hole in the head (Bill Duke) I thought that it could have been Poncho due to him being sniped by the Predator whilst Dutch was holding him up. And the hole was not directly in the middle of the skull.

A question to Oliver Harper: When the Chopper descends to pick up the lone survivor, Dutch. Who is the person in the helicopter whose head is leaning on the Generals chest, before the camera pans over to Ana??? I thought it was the body of Poncho, but when would they be able to recover his body. I have always wondered who that person is.

Saw this in the theater when I was 12, urgently had to see it because Jesse Ventura was in it and I was a huge WWF fan. Plus I was just getting into Arnold movies. Loved it then, still pop it in every few years for some silly action-horror fun. I just made my wife watch it for the first time, for a "live reaction" episode of our show. Her reaction to the Predator's unmasking was priceless. The mandibles freaked her the eff out.

Guys, I know this was years ago, but that final trap was a fake out. Arnold only put the spikes there to push the guy to go the other way!
@daveschrader8841
@daveschrader8841 5 жыл бұрын
Why does Dutch lure the Predator into the 'Trap' at the end? Because, Spoilers, when setting up the trap with the heavy log that hoisted up high in the sky, Dutch sharpened a bunch of sticks and secured them to a log, under this log he ran some vines that were connected to the suspended log. Therefore if the log falls down, it pulls on the vines, pulling anything that may be above the vines up into the sharpened sticks (if the Predator had followed Dutch, it would have gone over the vines and then been pulled up into the spikes). Like a noose that tightens to sticky end. But because the Predator saw the sharpened sticks, Dutch can only now kick out the trap when the Predator is under the Log/Counter-Weight.

theory: the blood turning from green to a dull colour when the predator walks infront of it is due to his invisible cloak. it's also made to cloak his blood just incase he's cut and someone notices his green glowy blood so it would make sense for any pred blood to be invisible behind it. i just thought of that!

I figure 70 % of this commentary track is Nick Helm and Oliver talking about different predator franchise movies and aliens.
