It would actually be really cool to have an elder protagonist for a whole arc

At first I thought that Mothwing would become leader as well but... hear me out... Froststar If you think about it, many things have been pointing to Frostpaw becoming leader. 1. Look beyond the obvious choices - As you said, a medicine cat is not an obvious choice so either Mothwing or Frostpaw. (Also, It was Frostpaw who received that message. The least obvious choice to her would be herself!) 2. Frostpaw finding the star-shaped leaf in her nest (She is to be the leader) 3. Her mini figure in the Warriors shop is holding the star-shaped leaf, implying that it's actually something very important for her character 4. The narrative and her character development so far, especially in Wind, has been making Frostpaw more leader-like. She does what she feels is right and almost has this air of authority about her that others acknowledge. She has no trouble debating with other leaders or even telling them what to do. Edit: 5. If Frostpaw is destined to be leader, is makes perfect sense why Starclan wouldn't have revealed the Riverclan leader sooner. Frostpaw just wasnt ready for it! Edit 2: 6. The cover of 'Star' Has Mistystar, Reedwhisker and Frostpaw in the centre, enough said XD So calling it now, Frostpaw is going to be the first apprentice that directly becomes leader

I honestly think Mothwing is gonna die defending Frostpaw from Splashtail. And frankly I think it would be a good way of showing how she's grown as a character. She went from victim blaming and mocking a medicine cat who had been manipulated in TBC, to saving one from their perpetrator, i also think it would be a bit of irony, to have the cat who didn't believe/follow starclan, save river clan from someone who outright went against starclan. I also hope that Splashtail will be killed at moonpool, i specifically think them fighting in the water would be a great use of having both a protag and antag be riverclan

I so want a WindClan pov. My absolute fave Clan without a single main story pov. I do like the idea of Mothwing becoming Leader, but unsure how that'll work out in longrun. It'd be great if we skipped a ThunderClan Pov for one Arc, giving NightxSun a chance to have kits if they do, then Arc 10 could go back to having one of those offspring being a mc. But prob never gonna happen 😢

I think you need to be reminded that Frostpaw's vision with Curlfeather is still being manipulated in some way. This was before Frostpaw had the very real vision of seeing Reedwhisker being murdered. Curlfeather only said that in hopes of Splashtail being overlooked OR perhaps she wanted Splashtail chosen because she didn't want anymore cats to die if Frostpaw chose wrong. It would feel wrong for Mothwing to be chosen since her whole character is that she can't talk to Starclan. It's an arc that has been established from the second arc when Leafpaw realises her friend can't communicate with Starclan and it would just feel so wrong for the writers to suddenly go 'she can talk to starclan now!' Not to mention that she's one of the older cats and should retire at the end of the arc.

I don't think all the new protagonists are currently kits. Sunbeam was a warrior for the entirety of The Broken Code and she still was chosen as protagonist. I feel like they would choose an adult RiverClan cat to show the aftermath of whatever will happen in Star.

I'm really hoping that either Frostpaw or Icewing will be leader. Frostlight has to be Frostpaw's full name, it's super pretty and plus it honors Harelight.

I still think the next leader will be Icewing. We're very clearly supposed to discard the "Look beyond the obvious choices" when considering the leader because 1. it obviously wasn't a real vision because Curlfeather was in StarClan in the dream and we know that's not actually the case, and 2. SPLASHTAIL, our big bad villain of the arc, suggested it first, and Frostpaw even thinks about that and how "StarClan must agree with him" which is a HUGE red flag. Icewing being part of the rebel group against Splashtail in RiverClan has only boosted my opinion that it's gonna be her as leader, as Frostpaw thinks of those three as "true RiverClan warriors". (And to be honest, I highly doubt the writers are gonna have a medicine cat switch to becoming the leader.) As for what'll happen to the villains, I am pretty sure Splashtail's gonna die. It would be pretty cool if either Duskfur or Frostpaw gets the final blow. Depending on how loyal Podlight is to Splashtail, he's either going to get accepted back after an apology or banished. I think Berryheart is either going to do a "herioc sacrifice" or get banished for good.

My predictions are both spalshtail and berryheart get offed in the battle that's very obviously coming that frostpaw and her ltitermates get their warrior names Sunbeam will be expecting nighthearts kits at the end of the book and thats it

I have a feeling frostpaw 's name is gonna be frostriver, not only to show that riverstar guided her through all this tough time and was with her all the way, but also to show that despite being hated in her birth clan, she was always loyal to them and tried to help them no matter what.

"In the big battle, Splashtail will be fighting Sunbeam... And Sunbeam is not winning." Can someone tell me why the way she said this made me laugh??

I can't imagine Leafstar still supporting Splashtail now that he killed his clanmate in the open. It seems like all the clans will be against Splashtail, and I'm wondering how he can even be a difficult villain to beat now that cats will believe he's not a real leader.

The clans are really in for very hard times, kinda surprising that Thunderclan, Shadowclan and Windclan are all agreeing with each other on the same page.

I don't see them making Mothwing RiverClan's new leader. In River, she says that she just wants to heal her clanmates rather than lead. I could see Icewing or even Frostpaw making it to leadership over Mothwing.

As an atheist, Mothwing becoming leader would just destroy a character that I, a bunch of others, can relate to when it comes to beliefs. Mothwing is an atheist, and she said it herself that StarClan needs an approved leader who believes in them. StarClan would NOT choose her, considering she questions their guidance. The Clans need leaders who believes, will follow, and listen to StarClan. RiverClan doesn't get to be excused from this just because of who their leader is. The whole of finding a leader for them is to find a leader who isn't a murderer, who doesn't mock StarClan, and believes in their guidance. If Mothwing were to become leader it would be no different than Splashtail, except for the murder and bloodshed. I vote for Icewing or Frostpaw for the next leader. I hope Frostpaw gets the full name Frostblaze or Frostheart.

If it was Mothwing dont you think by now we'd get SOME hint that starclan is activly trying to reach out to her? cause they aren't. Why would Riverstar not give Mothwing atleast ONE dream at SOME point in all the bruhaha going on in Riverclan to help her solidify her case?

Where is it confirmed Frostpaw's destiny is to become a Medicine Cat ? The 5 founders said it the opposite in Thunder's Prologue. My theory for this 6th book is that Frostpaw dies fighting Splashtail and proves she was right to those who didn't believe her by starting her second life with some flashback to a previous part of the book where her Leader's Ceremony is revealed (and Curlfeather giving her a life).

The 9th arc ThunderClan protagonist cat will be interesting, because the probable candidates (the kits of the Spotfur litter) are both Firestar’s AND Graystripe’s kin! It’s true! Firestar~Leafpool~Lionblaze~Spotfur (mother of the kits) Graystripe~Blossomfall~Stemleaf (father of the kits) In hindsight, the Erin Hunter writing team probably should have saved the “weight of a family legacy” plot point for one of these kits, instead of Flamepaw/Nightheart in “A Starless Clan” (because now the protagonist character would be related to TWO cats that have been recognizable fan favorites since “The Prophecies Begin”)

As much as I love the idea of Mothwing becoming the first medicine cat leader, I feel it is a lot more likely Frostpaw is getting the position. Frostpaw is highly favored by StarClan, more so than the average medicine cat, hinting that maybe they are trying to get her ready for a huge leap in power such as becoming leader. Plus, there is the concern of creating another Mistystar since Mothwing is an older cat in the series, having been canonically around almost as long as Leafstar. I am predicting Mothwing will stay a medicine cat while Frostpaw becomes leader, or she will sacrifice herself to save her apprentice in a fight with Splashtail. Still, I actually am hoping I am wrong and Akira is right in their prediction that Mothwing will be the next RiverClan leader. She would be awesome, though my concern stays that maybe she is a bit too old and another Mistystar situation could be created.

ARC. tigerstar II has already have a such a arc with his son, forbidden relation ship with dovewing, and rising to power. squirrelstar has already gotten SEVEN arcs of development, and a whole super addition, (also a POV character). leafstar is the eldest leader and the leader of a lost clan, along with skyclan’s Destiney circling around her, so I feel like leafstar gets some attention. meanwhile, Riverclan just has a messy leader situation and if mothwing/frostpaw rise to leadership, they’ll already have some long development. I feel like they NEED to make harestar this power force of kindness that holds the clans together. or I feel like he’ll shun the idea of fighting for the clans and team up with brightheart to end this. it’s a stretch, sure, but they’ve been doing something with each leader in the recent arcs! avos; tigerstar and leafstar tbc; squirrelstar and bramblestar asc; Riverclan’s little mess ARC NINE NEEDS TO HAVE SOME CENTER FOCUS ON WINDCLAN; SPECIFICALLY HARESTAR! crowfeather’s super edition shows off harestar kindness and laid back attitude, so express this with the new windclan pov, show how harestar treats his clan well and does anything to keep them safe and in general, the clans together safe!

I think Icewing would be a good candidate to be RiverClan’s new Leader (just an opinion) 1) Icewing is Frostpaw’s kin, to be exact, her great-grandmother (Icewing~Petalfur~Jayclaw~Frostpaw) so Frostpaw is more likely to trust her (and let’s face it, nepotism is a thing) 2) Icewing has been popular among the fans (who actually read the books, as Moonkitti once pointed out in a video) so she could be a marketable character 3) The sign of the feather was false-but sometimes even false signs can hold some value, strangely enough… (Mudfur chose Mothwing to be his Medicine Cat apprentice based on a false sign-but Mothwing has been a great healer, wise, good, and always had excellent instincts-even without the guidance of StarClan) So a white feather, coated in a glittery frost (as Frostpaw described the feather (besides the curly texture that made her choose her mother, Curlfeather)) could also be alternatively interpreted as Ice Wing (a single feather being easier to leave than an entire whole wing) 4) “Look beyond the obvious choices” (also a false sign, but see argument from #3) How many times have Icewing’s own Clanmates doubted her? Alright, there was the time she trained in the Dark Forest-but other than that, she was exiled for trying to do the right thing, standing against the Bramblestar imposter (during “The Broken Code”) and criticized for being willing to at least hear out Tigerheartstar when he came to help/invade RiverClan (admittedly, they were better fed and organized with ShadowClan’s help…) and she’s exiled AGAIN (with Mothwing and Duskfur) for rebelling against Splashtail 5) Bee, a Cat of the Park, had dreams about walking on a frozen river while everyone watched (maybe that river with Ice had importance?)

Frankly, I just really hope that the next arc will be last of the series. The thing is, I feel that at this point, it should be time to close the book on the clans as they are currently. The warrior code is changing, and more cats considering abandoning belief on Starclan. Plus the generation of cats who have been here since the beginning are almost completely gone. It would only make sense to end things here, considering that this is the 9th arc, which would reflect the nine lives that a leader receives from Starcla . It would be the series 9th and final arc spanning this timeline. If the series decides to go on, however, I think it should be a timeskip involving a post-Starclan generation of warriors, where the structure of the clans is wildly different. Maybe it could be about a group of warriors trying to reunite the clans or rediscover Starclan. Just a thought.

Those ideas r good! :) Makes sense. I’m excited and curious to know how this goes too. My guess, I’m gonna guess that Wasppaw might end up being leader, because after the storm, he was leading the apprentices to fix camp. He also is peaceful and wanted to be a Riverclan cat. Maybe he ends being chosen to lead Riverclan, after all, he is the peacemaker that Frostpaw predicted. Idk. :)

That’s a good theory for what might happen in Star, but my theory has a little bit of a plot twist. *Does the evil laugh* My fanmade theory is that Frostpaw appoints a non clan cat as the new leader of RiverClan. Here’s my story… Note: This is only fan made and this theory will most likely not happen in the actual story. Kittypet to Leader [Fanmade] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Story: After successfully winning the battle against Splashtail and his followers, Frostpaw decides to return home to RiverClan and return to her duties as medicine cat. (Mothwing dies from her wounds during the fight, and Podlight is banished from RiverClan along with Berryheart, Hollowspring, and Sparrowtail for plotting with Splashtail, and fighting alongside him and the rouges that Splashtail recruits to fight against RiverClan and the other four clans) Frostpaw decides to appoint Coco (Former Kittypet and Loner who volunteered to help Frostpaw and gang take back RiverClan from Splashtail) as RiverClan’s new leader. The RiverClan cats were doubtful about Frostpaw’s decision at first after Frostpaw chose the wrong leader (Owlnose) the last time, but Coco reminds them the story of Firestar, who was able to lead ThunderClan with his nobility and courage despite not having wild-born blood, how you shouldn’t judge a warrior by their blood, but rather by their love and loyalty for their Clan/Group, and promises to lead RiverClan with the wisdom that Frostpaw, Mothwing, Duskfur, and Icewing had taught Coco. Coco appoints Minnowtail as her deputy, and appoints Frostpaw’s littermates, Mistpaw and Graypaw, as warriors with the names of Mistfern and Graystone. Coco and Frostpaw went to the moonpool along with Shadowsight (ShadowClan), Fidgetflake (SkyClan), Kestrelflight & Whistlepaw (WindClan). When they got to the moonpool, Coco decides to give Frostpaw her medicine cat name and renames her Frostshine (In honor of letting StarClan guide her path). Kestrelflight also gives Whistlepaw her medicine cat name and renames her Whistlesong. Coco, Frostshine, Whistlesong, Kestrelflight, Shadowsight, and Fidgetflake then touches the cold water of the moonpool to share tongues with StarClan. Coco wakes up in a starry field with countless StarClan cats surrounding her. The first StarClan came up to Coco. He was Riverstar, the founder of RiverClan. He welcomed the former Kittypet/Loner, tells her that StarClan approves Frostshine’s decision to name Coco leader, and gives the newly appointed RiverClan leader her first life, the gift of trust. After Riverstar left, ThunderClan’s founder, Thunderstar appears, approaches Coco, and offers Coco the second life, the gift of nobility. The third StarClan, Shadowstar approaches Coco and gives her the third of the nine lives, the gift of accepting hardships. Windstar appears and gives Coco her fourth life, the gift of forgiveness. Firestar gives Coco the fifth life of remembering legacies, Willowshine gives Coco the sixth life of compassion, Mothwing (Who was able to join StarClan despite her disbelief in her ancestors) gives Coco the seventh life of appreciation, Reedwhisker gives Coco the eighth life of justice, and finally, Mistystar gives Coco the ninth life of wisdom. After receiving her nine lives, StarClan grants Coco a new name of Larchstar, and the former Kittypet/Loner gladly accepts the nine lives, new name, and title. StarClan chants Larchstar’s name, and they disappear from Larchstar’s dream, allowing her to awake in the living world where her Clan is waiting for her. The End… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ P.S. In case if any of you were curious, Coco/Larchstar is a black and brown tabby she-cat with cream paws, muzzle, chest, belly, and tail tip, a nicked left ear caused by Splashtail while saving Frostpaw/shine, and orange eyes. She was born a Kittypet to Sandy and Acorn with the name of Coco alongside her littermates, Briar, Ivy, and Juniper. When Sandy and Acorn’s kits reached the age of six quarter-moons (1 quarter-moon = about a week), Twolegs from near and far came to buy the kits to keep as their pets. Coco wasn’t so lucky unfortunately because she was adopted by mean Twolegs who wouldn’t groom her and feed her, punish her harshly for running away by kicking at her and throwing her against walls, and force her to sleep in a mouse hole full of mice, rats, spiders, cobwebs, and dust. When Coco was three moons old, the neglectful Twolegs put Coco in a box, put the box in a rapid stream, and left her there, hoping she’d drown. The box that Coco was in swept away by the currents, and she squeaked and cried loudly for help. A kind loner name Rook heard the cries from the kit, and she risks her life by jumping into the rapid stream, dragging the box to shore, and freeing the kit from the box. After rescuing Coco, Rook noticed how horribly she been treated by those Twolegs, and she decides to take in the kit, and raise her as her own. Time passed by, and Coco grew into a curious and gentle loner, willing to help out other cats if needed. One day, Rook grew awfully sick from Greencough, and it was hard for her to fight the sickness with her old age and weak immune system. Coco constantly tried to save Rook by giving her Catmint, but it wouldn’t work. Unfortunately, while Coco was out hunting, Rook died from her sickness. Coco was devastated by the death of the cat who acted like a second mother to her, but she had to be strong and continue to live her Loner life because that’s what Rook would’ve wanted. Coco was out collecting moss when she came across three strangers. The cats identity themselves as Duskfur, Icewing, and Mothwing. They told Coco the story about how a cat name Splashtail took over as RiverClan’s leader, and how ruthless he has been. Coco decides to let the three Clan cats stay until they built an army to take back RiverClan and kill Splashtail. Coco takes the cats to a cave about 12 Tree-lengths away from Horseplace. Coco introduces the Clan cats to some of her loner friends that lived not to far from the cave where Coco lived. Coco and the other loners were interested about Clan life, and decides to help Mothwing, Icewing, and Duskfur defeat Splashtail if they could teach them about Clan life and how it works. The loners were training when Coco suddenly noticed another cat, looking for the three Clan cats. Coco comes up to mysterious cat, and the cat introduces herself as Frostpaw. Coco was so happy to meet another Clan cat, and she took Frostpaw where Duskfur, Icewing, and Mothwing were talking. The four Clan cats reunited, and Frostpaw informed them that Splashtail sent out a group of warriors to look for the traitors as well as recruiting nearby rouges. Mothwing tells Frostpaw to tell the other of the leaders about the situation and that they need to be ready to fight. The time came for a blood shedding battle. ThunderClan was ready, ShadowClan was ready, WindClan was ready, Coco and her loners were ready, and the RiverClan cats who don’t support Splashtail’s leadership were ready. Splashtail and his army of rouges and fellow RiverClan warriors who Splashtail manipulated came along with SkyClan. The battle began. ThunderClan, WindClan and ShadowClan attacked SkyClan. The RiverClan cats who were on Splashtail’s side fought with the RiverClan cats against with Splashtail’s leadership and Coco and her loner friends aided the RiverClan cats who didn’t support Splashtail as leader by attacking the rouges. Splashtail pinned Frostpaw down, and was about to kill her, but Coco pushes Splashtail off the apprentice and fought him with all her strength and energy. The brown tabby tom clawed Coco’s left ear, and while the black and brown tabby she-cat yowled with pain, she dug her claws into Splashtail’s throat and didn’t let go until the last breath left his body. The rouges that Splashtail recruited retreated and the Clans stopped fighting one another. Coco gives the Clans a speech of how Splashtail broke the Clans apart, but now they must work together to heal up now that Splashtail is dead. Everyone went their separate ways and the rest is history… 😉

The tree falling situation definitely felt like a setup for Leafkit becoming a protagonist or at least important next arc. It would be cool to have a Windclan POV, I just hope that their culture and way of life will be a little distinct from the other clans because they all feel quite samey right now.

I JUST READ WIND TODAY! I was so excited to read it! And I was so excited to watch this video! But, now we have to wait for Star. It’s my first time having to wait for a wc book to come out, as I started reading them Christmas last year, but I’m super excited! Edit: In a battle Splashtails probably gonna say “If you don’t fight hard enough, you’ll end up like Harelight” so they probably have to fight to live

I feel like night heart will make a sacrifice for either frost paw or sunbeam or maybe another cat he’s close to because in book five I feel he got the least attention compared to sunbeam looking after her mother and trying to help her and frost paw trying to make a change to riverclan by getting rid of splash tail and saving wind clan whilst night heart was just kind of their supporting or backing them up. But I don’t entirely know I’m not a theory maker

What do you think will happen to Sparrowtail and Hollowspring ? They seem to be sticking pretty much with Berryheart right now, and I'd say their fates will be tied to what happens to her. Maybe they'll pull a Duskfur and get a redemption arc, maybe even after one of them gets slaughtered like Harelight. This WOULD be highly unlikely but if that happens I'd say Hollowspring dies, because Sparrowtail has seen Darktail and it kind of fits better if you know what I mean. Maybe RiverClan takes them in permanently if Berryheart dies and they truly are sorry. Or they could return to ShadowClan after Berryheart's defeat, which I perceive as the most boring option and the ones the writers would go for.

There are actually three new kits in RiverClan from Wind: Floatkit, Troutkit, and Rapidkit (I think) I would love a Floatpaw

I believe Icewing is gonna be leader. Mothwing can be more marketable but we dont need another grandma being leader (we already have Squirrelstar and Leafstar) and frostpaw and mothwing would be the obvious choices considering they are main characters and it would feel too cliche. Not only that but Frostpaw is barely an adult- there is no way they are gonna drop a newbie like that to be a new leader. I think Icewing wont be obvious to most readers AND she'd be a good leader too and one that we have seen enough to be consistent and respected. I think Frostpaw gets one more vision that Icewing is to be the new leader, Mothwing gives Frostpaw her name and retires to the elders den and Frostie becomes a the new healer. They should also kill off Leafstar. She's very old and we havent had two clans change leaders in one arc since OOTS. I agree about the Berryheart, Splashtail and Sunbeam plotline tho! I'd love that.

I think we would have a riverclan protagonist beginning with one of Splashtail siblings, being bullied by their clanmates due to their kin like bramble - tiger situation.

This is a wild theory but hope it happens. So in book star someone will kill splash tail BUT splash tail will come back to life revealing that one of the dark forest cats took over his body and either he got 9 lives from the dark Forest before and got 9 lives or from Star clan without us readers knowing. anyway, in book 6 of broken code There was two dark forest cats that were talking about how ashfur was going teach them how to steal a living cat's body. Now back took book star; So now one of those dark forest cat has possessed splashtail and three clans lose from the war from sky and river clan and then we head to the next ark where clans are falling apart and a leader loses a life making a dark forest cat possesses that leaders life making more villains and more trouble for the clans. Yes a wild theory but would be so awesome!!

WhistleSong and Frostwing were my guesses too! That's so cool. My other was Frostlight but that's only because I love the Light suffix. I also liked Frostfeather and Whistlefrost but I don't see Mothwing or anyone really naming Frostpaw after her mom. But brambleclaw was named after Tigerclaw so who knows. I also think Frostpaw will become leader, and another guess I have is that she'll go straight from Frostpaw to Froststar. Also Leafkit as a main protagonist would be so great! This might be unpopular, but I love always having one protagonist in Thunderclan but I also really wanna see more of Windclan!! I also thought Mothwing could be the next leader at first, but idk now. Although, if Mothwing becomes Mothstar, a frostpaw apprentice could be much more likely I also think the two resistance warriors could be the next leader, Icewing and Duskfur I think? I'm not sure if they've had an apprentice or whatever but honestly that doesn't seem to matter anymore ALSOOO Wafflepaw has such a cute name. I thouht Squrrielstar was gonna change it because like her father, she does not know what a waffle is, but she didn't. And his name is so cute. I think his warrior name will probably be something like Wafflefur, Wafflepelt, or Waffleclaw though and I am okay with all of those honestly.

I think that Bee will be the new Leader of RiverClan, because he kept having dreams about walking through a line of cats, with all of them looking at him in curiosity. I think it's a vision of him becoming the Leader.

I honestly would cheer is Berryheart kills Splashtail and sends him to the Dark Forest in Star. That would be enough for me to forgive Berryheart. I hated Splashtail so much because he robbed us of what would’ve been Reedstar.

I think what would also be interesting for a RiverClan protagonist in the next arc would be one of Frostpaw's siblings! We have had sibling characters be protagonists together, but never at different times.

I kind of want sparkpelt to fight berryheart because she yelled at her new favorite character (like the warriors 2012 fandom) once. Maybe even sunbeam trying to stop them and getting killed, and nightheart getting angry at sparkpelt all over again. Then wasp becomes secretly evil and helps evil riverclan. I was hoping that would happen so bad.

Definitely want to see Brightheart as a main character. She's one of the only remaining First Arc characters (All of them are elders now) Mothstar does sound interesting. But, I feel like Icewing should be leader, just my opinion.
