Don’t underestimate how much you and Aeron influence people getting interested in theater and buying tickets

Am I the only one who thinks there should be an Understudy category? Some substitutes are as good as the main actor and perform regularly on the days the mains are off.

Not me preparing myself for a major awards show to forget about Patrick Vaill AGAIN. It will never sit right with me that he wasn’t nominated for Oklahoma. I feel like Sheridan Smith and Sarah Snook are both locks in the lead actress category as not only do they give masterful performances, in each case they ARE the whole show. That will be tough to overlook.

2 things 1) why doesnt Oliviers release eligibility like Tonys...would make life easier for you 2) i HATE HATE HATE that categories are combined!!!

The only thing I'd potentially throw into the mix is a joint nom for Ed Larkin and Jonny Amies a la Six/Matilda/For Black Boys

Hadestown being eligible still feels kind of iffy to me as being "new" given that it has run here before, does feel a little like cheating but I guess I can sort of understand the reasoning behind it and I did think it was fantastic so it's not like any nominations wouldn't be deserved. I totally agree that both Melanie LeBarrie and Gloria Ontiri should be in for supporting actress in a musical, they were both astonishing. I also absolutely agree on both Jak Malone and Jack Wolfe for supporting actor, I am admittedly biased towards Mincemeat as I'm a big fan but Jak is incredible in that role, and I LOVED Jack in Next To Normal as well so would be very happy to see them both nominated and think they both should be. Alas I missed out on seeing both Eleanor Worthington-Cox and Cedric Neal as their fantastic understudies were on the days I went to see both Next To Normal and Guys and Dolls but I'm hoping I will catch Eleanor as Natalie when I go to see Next To Normal in June. I agree on all three of your locks for Best Actress In A Musical, I would be incredibly surprised if Nicole, Caissie and Marisha didn't all get a nom and I really hope Aeron is right and Natasha does get the fourth because it would make me very very happy to see her recognised for her amazing performance in Mincemeat. I weirdly have no opinions on Best Actor In A Musical, evidently the actors I saw last year stuck in my head less than the actresses! I do not see very many plays but I did see Sophie Okonedo in Medea and she was stunning so if she did get a nomination it would be very well deserved. I definitely think Operation Mincemeat should get one for Best Musical and I think it does deserve one for Score/Orchestrations as well but I'll fully admit I don't really understand how that category works! I also really loved the orchestrations on Next To Normal so I would be very happy to see them nominated there. Guys and Dolls I can definitely see doing well in the technical categories and I would agree it's a lock for Revival and Arlene Phillips should def get one for choreography. I would love to see Two Strangers get something, it's such a good show and I'm so excited to see its West End run. (Sorry this comment got excessively long, I had more opinions than I thought! It's the first season when I'm really properly familiar with a lot of the shows eligible!).

If Mincemeat is nominated for score and/or actress as your predictions include, I will be very, very happy. It's absolutely deserving in both (in addition to the more obvious best musical and supporting actor which I think are more confident guesses) but they're all such stacked categories this year it's really hard to say!

I'm hoping Jamie Parker gets a nom for n2n but the category is definitely stacked

Ed Larkin and Jonny Aimes should not only be locks for best actor but should win it. They’ve had two+ on the same slot before (most notably Six having all six wives) so Jonny and Ed are absolute locks for me.

I would really love Jamie Parker to get a nomination for n2n. Maybe Taylor Russell for The Effect as well. If A Strange Loop isn't nominated I'll cry.

I swear to god, if Amy Trigg doesn't get a nomination and frankly win, the award for supporting role in a musical, then I will be writing a strongly worded letter to the Olivier Awards

This was definitely an incredible year for London Theatre! My god! I can also agree that this was probably the BEST year for the National! Also, I thought Guys & Dolls wasn’t going to be eligible. Guess something changed? Either case, I just cannot wait for the nominations!

Excited to see the nominations! I have the same for the top 5 musicals, really hoping there are 5. The Witches in Entertainment/Comedy would be a great shout, hope that happens for them!

I strongly disagree about ‘A Little Life’ it had extremely mixed reviews and no one really talks about it anymore. I understand it had very starry names, but I feel like it’s been forgotten. Stranger Things: The First Shadow has an extremely strong cast with big young cast should be recognised for that.

Oh it's so frustrating when you just ream off names and don't mention the show. I do see a lot of theatre, but I don't necessarily keep track of cast members. At all, really. Let alone creatives. And I have close to zero chance of putting names with shows I haven't seen. Anyhow, my fave new shows of the year - Crazy for You, Guys and Dolls, Operation Mincemeat, Pygmalion, Groundhog Day and the Motive & The Cue. And my award for Not A Whelk's Chance in a Supernova to be nominated for anything, yet I still loved it: Rebecca.

The original production of Groundhog Day had a great choreography relying almost entirely on the multiple turning rings of the stage. Replacing this by a new choreography that works on non-moving stages while keeping the spirit of the original production was a big achievement, so this would be my nomination for Groundhog Day. As a whole show I'd agree it's to similar to be considered as best revival. (JFTR, I've seen both.)

I've never been to the KitKat Club before, it was a major investment - I went with the Tiffin box and champagne option - so glad I did. I bought the tickets before I'd read about Cara having difficulties. Was a little concerned she would struggle. She was amazing, stay well Cara.

Im not sure the criteria to get nomination but i hope and pray that death note gets some nomination. One of my favourite shows of last year and would have happily have seen it again if it wasn't for the short production run it had

I must have missed something. Hadestown and Next to Normal are not new. Hadestown was produced in 2015 or 2016 and Next to Normal was 2007. How are they shows "NEW" and not revivals?

so sad and terrible they are announcing it through tik tok. Dear England better win alot. i'm rooting againist sunset and hadestown. for me def not as a blooodbath compared to broadway. projections don't count for me as set design, too weak to use carpenters hands especially stagehands nowadays they will lose jobs. too bad Nicole-Lily Baisden prob won't be nominated for best leading actress for 42nd street. loved her in the filmed version with Sutton Foster and Samuel Edwards. Hope she comes to broadway.
