Saying they “snuck”their way into the title game or the super bowl when they’re the 2 or 3 seed is crazy

Everyone always puts brees ahead of big Ben for no reason other than stats, forgetting there are reasons brees' stats are inflated. They always say ben was carried by the defense but Brees never would have won with the terrible o-lines big Ben had and brees had defenses that were good or even great (especially at takeaways) when they went far. Ben barely had serviceable tackles and never had an offensive head coach. Sean Payton always brought in players like terron armstead or jahri Evans to make his lines one of the best in the NFL. Ben played in a harder division, with terrible weather, without a dome, against the ravens twice a year and without a "QB genius" as a head coach which has to make up a lot of ground statistically. What did he not make clutch plays?? Nope he was actually more clutch with more game winning drives and more iconic winning plays. I get why people think brees was better (he wasn't) but this putting Ben in a different tier has got to stop. People were ready to do the same thing with Russ until they saw him in a different system. Everyone forgets drew brees was about a .500 QB before Sean Payton. People say ben was lucky to be a Steeler but Brees was equally as lucky to end up with one of the few people that could truly unlock his talent as a smaller pocket QB. And oh yeah big Ben has 2 Superbowls and 3 appearances whereas brees has 1 and 1. Big Ben was better but nobody respected his sloppy style and nobody wants to talk about nuances of why there are differences in stats. Brady gets a rough shake in terms of being outdoors in terrible weather (like Josh Allen now) but at least his division was all time garbage during his stay with New England

. . .sneaking into playoffs, championship games, superbowl? It gets old hearing this. 32 teams, & this team beats more than it losses. Last season 5 -1 in their division. Always the talk that their the 4th best team in AFC north. 4years ago the were 10-0, only remaining undefeated team, but the talk was they didn't deserve to be. They beat teams that went to the playoffs and Superbowl that year. They have been 1st in division 4 of last 10 years. 9 of last 10, 1st or second, the one time they were 3rd, 3 AFC north teams went to playoffs. Tired of hearing them talked about like they're scrubs. There's are 32 professional teams and they seem to always play with the top 25% of them. Everybody can't win, there is a lot of talent in NFL, players and coaches & one cannot take steelers lightly.

What “upside” does Fields have that Russ doesn’t? Is it two SBs and having two more appearances blown by his defense? Is it being in MVP conversations for 9 years straight? Is it being the second-winningest QB over an entire decade to arguably the greatest QB to ever play the game. Is it breaking more records than Mothers Against Rap? Is it having the 4th-highest career passer rating in NFL history? Is it having the most efficient December passing stats in NFL history? Is it averaging 3,000+ yards passing, 500+ yards rushing, and 65%+ completion% for his first 8 years? Is it having the highest career 4th quarter passer rating ever, and the highest career passer rating on passes of 20+ and 30+ yards? Is it having more game-winning drives than any QB in NFL history for 9.5 seasons, being the fastest QB to 100 wins in NFL history. Is it being the first QB since Michael Vick to pass for 3,000 yards and 500+ yards in a season? I could go on and on about the stuff Russ has done, but the guy owns more records and distinctions than anyone in the league outside of Aaron Rodgers, and has broken multiple of Rodgers’s records! When you regurgitate narratives you had better have evidence to support them. Justin Fields doesn’t have more “upside” than Russ. He simply has THE POSSIBILITY of playing more years because he’s younger. Those are two very different things. If I had to bet on whether the greatness of Fields’s next 10 years would exceed the greatness of Russ’s next 5, I’ll bet on Russ’s next 5, and I wouldn’t even blink before doing it. Russ can still go to new heights over the next 4-5 years. He’s 35, not 45. Justin fields + Russell Wilson = JustRuss!

What?! “Struggles?!” First of all, 26 TDs and 9 INTs won’t be struggling. It will still be below Russ’s normal production, but that level of play would be put last year’s squad in the AFC title game last season! Those TDs were 9th in the NFL! And his TD-INT ratio was top-5. His stats were better than Mahomes’s and (MVP) Lamar Jackson’s.

These guys are way off on how things work in Pittsburgh. It’s always been about the Defense in Pittsburgh. Here’s the proof: the last four times the Steelers made it to the Super Bowl, their starting QB threw just 17 TD’s each season. That’s right, from O’Donnell to Roethlisberger, 17 TD’s. That’s nothing! Now for the Defense: from 2017-2023, none of those defenses would rank top 10 in Pittsburgh in the last 30 years. That’s the #1 reason Tomlin should’ve been fired years ago.

@@user-xc5bn7vo8i When did the rebuild start? 2022? Earlier? Because the Steelers haven’t done anything in over a decade. Bill Cowher’s last losing season was in 2003 when they were 6-10. Next year Conference Championship. Year after, Super Bowl win. That’s the difference between Cowher and Tomlin. Cowher reloaded, while Tomlin rebuilds.

Russ can do anything with the football. He can throw over the middle, and he can play on schedule. He just needs good protection to do it. He’s actually quite deadly when using the middle of the field. Mind you, Russ and Arthur Smith spoke for about 9 hours before he signed! Smith has watched a ton of tape on Russ. He’s known about Russ for years. He’s comfortable with Russ as his starter. If he weren’t, Russ would be in Minnesota, Atlanta, or Las Vegas. Even if you think Fields can one day become a franchise QB, this year isn’t the year for experimentation! No matter what happens, Fields won’t be better than Russ. Anyone who doesn’t know that is just dreaming. Russ can get this squad to a SB.
