An excellent commentary. I read this more than 30 years ago and was quite literally shocked and bamboozled by its brilliance. It certainly set the stage for reading the book. But I wish I had had your explanations with me when I first read it :-)

Thanks for this very helpful and thorough video. I don't understand what Wilde meant in the statement "the nineteenth century dislike of Romanticism is the rage of Caliban not seeing his own face in a glass". Could you possibly clarify this?
