Great video! Awesome presentation! It must have taken a ton of work to put this information together! It's hard to find info on Preferred, but what I have seen so far is good, and they have been very quick to respond to my questions.

Hi LF! I had zero issues on both my 6.5 Creedmoor and my 6 BRA barrels from them and would not hesitate recommending them. In BOTH barrels, they used a Pacific Tool and Gauge (Pacific Tool) which are reported to be some of the best reamers out there. Just make sure if you use them that you request the spec sheet so you can use it for reloading, sizing, etc... Hey thanks again for watching my friend!

Hey Kyley! Thanks for the kind words my friend! It's a little long, but there is a lot to consider when you just "change a barrel" out and I don't see anyone actually telling us about it. Thanks for watching and Shoot Straight!

I listened to a podcast from Hornady and they found that the 140 likes to jump 75 thousand. That why they have factory rifles with 199 Freebore. I tried 75 thousand and bam one hole. What chamber dimensions did you get saami spec? Freebore? Neck? I’m about to order a new barrel for my 6.5cm. Try 41.5 jumping 75. I bet it shoots.
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bryan! I got the SAAMI spec barrel and am loving it so far...did an initial lands erosion reading and it's right below .003 per 100 rounds. The machining on this barrel is great and it was a LOT cheaper to just do it myself. I did see that the .055 jump had a good group, so I may even load some additional tests with .065 and .075 off the lands. Thanks for the comment my friend and Shoot Straight!

@@The4GunGuy do you know what barrel blank they use. I meet a gun smith that quoted me a shouldered barrel for my Howa. He uses Excalibur barrels. Have you had any experience with them?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 3 жыл бұрын
@@bryanmarks4070 My understanding is that they actually make their own blanks, so these barrels are THEIR barrels. I may call them later and will try to update my response.

How long did the barrel last ? and were you happy with the preferred barrel prefit ? Thanks

Hi Richard! Barrel never did get shot out, I just had a friend build me a straight taper for weight. I was very happy with the PBB barrel and would recommend it for sure. Thanks for watching my friend!

This is all really great information! I plan on using the 140 grain ELDM as well. And I just bought a magneto speed but have not used it yet. Have you noticed any change in point of impact or barrel harmonics issues when working up your load? Thanks 4gg!

Hi Jeff! Take a look at this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btyKZ5yLrdq8oJs.html I still use my homemade setup today and it works great without having to attach to the barrel. Thanks for watching as usual my friend!

Oh man, you are a wealth of information. I am so thankful for your help. What a really great idea! Your channel has become a primary source and I'm glad to be a guest of it. And thank you for all of your willingness to help. I hope I can return the favor someday. I think you're a fellow Texan and so maybe I'll see you out and around! Blessings my friend!

Hey 4GG! How would you compare a PBB prefit to something in the same price range like criterion?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 3 ай бұрын
Hi Force! I don't have any experience with Criterion so would be hesitant to guess. All I can say is that both my PBB barrels shot very well until I moved to my own gunsmith who does great work, but only for a few people. If you're local to Houston, he could probably help you.

Have you tried preferred barrel blanks carbon fiber barrels? Looking for a review
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 9 ай бұрын
Hi Ed! I have shied away from carbon fiber for a couple of reasons. First, they are too light for PRS style shooting where you want a heavy rifle. Second is barrel heating and cooling...which I don't think would be manged well again, from a PRS perspective where we are sending 12 rounds in 2 minutes. But it's really the weight that I focus on. Thanks for watching my friend!

I bought your product, a carbon barrel. Is Barrel Breakin the same procedure for this video?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 2 жыл бұрын
Hi DEA99! Thanks a great question. I would assume that it would be the same break-in procedure since we're 'seasoning' the internal rifling of the barrel. You might check with PPB to make sure though. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for the outstanding information! I really learned a lot. I'm considering a preferred barrel. May I ask what contour you chose, free bore, and crown diameter? Thank you.

Hi Jeff! I'm changing calibers and again went with the PBB barrel. I should get it in this week. I'm changing from 6.5 Creedmoor to 6mm BRA for a number of reasons. In this video, I went with the M24/40 contour, 'regular' freebore and a threaded end. Thanks for watching my friend!

Thanks for the response! And I wish you luck with the new 6BRA setup. A buddy has one and that rifle is a tack driver! One of the most accurate rifle I've ever had the pleasure of shooting. You'll be happy...👍

@@The4GunGuy awesome, thank you for the reply. I’m looking into getting one of their profits for my bergara hmr. As in your case, I’m around 2500!rounds on my factory barrel and suspect the throat is just about done. Thinking of going with the heavy Palma countour since it closely matches my current countour.

Hi Jeremy! It's an M40/24 contour. I've since gone to a straight taper 1.25" the entire length and loving it. No tuner, just a Area 419 Hellfire Match brake. Thanks for watching my friend!

The barrel is gonna change, but doing a "break in" doesnt effect that and accomplishes nothing really. I say why not use the first 200 rounds to find something close to what the rifle likes.
