Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Darcy Judd And he's young. The bucklings aren't as smelly and don't act as "bucky" but they can still get the job done. We've just bought two bucklings to start us into that funny and stinky world. We figured that would ease us into it and we wouldn't have to build a bunch of new infrastructure farther away to bring them home. Adding on to our goat shed will be fine for the little guys. Then by next rut when they are in full gross mode we'll have finished a place down wind from us. Bucks don't stink like that all year, just during rut. We didn't know that just like we didn't know how pathetic the success rate is with AI in Nigerian Dwarf goats or how tricky it is to time the doe's "standing heat" with a stud service. Really just easier to get your own buck. And they have to have a buddy and a wether eats as much as a buck so...get two bucks and twice the genetics.

Hbug13 Bug Bear I hadn’t heard that about the breed but it makes me even more comfortable about the idea of getting a buck...maybe one buck and a whether or freemartin for company? It might make more sense for me starting off and allow me more of a budget for finding the best buck I can versus keeping two bucks.

I like the look of Buck #2, he could provide that dark coloration you wanted for future young; but I think the 3rd Buck would also be a nice choice since it comes from a line of good milking goats. ( It also has a lovely coat)
