You are so smart to not share the name. My husband and I did the same thing and it was great! Plus you don't need to hear everyone's opinion. Thanks for sharing.

I agree! My brother and sister in law told us they were going to call their son "Lewis" so all throughout the pregnancy we referred to the baby as 'Baby Lewis'. By the time he was born they were sick of the name and named him Theodore!

Any chance you could talk about some of the baby names you and Don like but that didn't make the final list? Just to help give a sense of your taste? I just think it is fun to try and guess the name :) I think it so sweet and special that the two of you are going to choose the name together after you meet her!

Question -- What has surprised you most about being pregnant? Either something you didn't expect or something you did expect but found to be different from what you thought it would be? I'm a mother of 5 but my baby is now 10. I've been enjoying following along on this journey with you!

+Cindy Freyou This is a great question, but I would love for her to answer it at the end of the 3rd trimester and after delivery even more so!!! She is still in that sweet spot of 2nd trimester bliss.

I loved seeing Winnie react when you "knocked on wood". LOL It reminded me of my dog, a Great Dane, who passed away a few years ago. She used to do the same thing and then run to the door barking. It cracked me up every time. The bump is growing, so cute!

I'm not a mother, but I think you thinking of not using the black out drapes is a good one. My cousin and his girlfriend had a baby recently and they explained to me that they really made a point not to be quiet when the baby was sleeping. Now she sleeps through anything! I think it's a good idea to kind of "train" your baby to not be ...oh what's the word, high maintenance or sensitive, I suppose? lol Loving your nursery ideas!

I agree 100% - ours napped in the living room where were and we vacuumed, ran the dishwasher, played music or TV and since then she's been able to sleep or nap anywhere anytime she's tired. I know a lot of people who always kept the lights out and tip toed around the house and their children have a much more difficult time sleeping and napping.

Hi Jen - as a 55 year old mom that nursed three babies I would highly recommend that when you take off your bra try using some kind of support. Maybe a comfy sport bra or a sleeping bra (just google sleeping bra). I really wish that I had always used some support because now I am just a saggy mess LOL!! I don't want the same thing to happen to you.
@anaidkc
@anaidkc 8 жыл бұрын
+miramsey1 that's great advice....specially while nursing. I did not even bring a nursing bra to the hospital, as I majorly underestimated how much and how quickly the milk would be present. The nurse at the hospital urged me to immediately get a proper nursing bra with ultimate support......and to ALWAYS wear it. Even at night while sleeping. And there are some very comfortable ones. I basically wore a bra of some type all the time save when I was taking a shower. And I am now 37 yrs old, I nursed for 18 months exclusively, and my breast are exactly the same as before feeding when I was 20. Its the best advice! I always think of that nurse, or I'd have no idea.

Jen, I just had my 3rd bub and he was head up, feet down til I was 37 weeks and I was the same, I felt the hiccups really low down, even though he was head up :) You look amazing!!! I'm so happy for you. I think it's great you had the vaccine, I live in Australia and we lost a local bub to whooping cough, his mum didn't have the vaccine during pregnancy (she wasn't made aware she should) and since then the recommendation has been for pregnant mothers to have the vaccines to give their bub the best chance. And I totally agree on keeping the name quiet, we did the same thing! I didn't want everyone's opinion, it's such a personal thing. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy xx

In regard to how long a woman stays in the hospital I'd like to say it depends a LOT on your insurance company and what they will OK as to the length of time you can stay. Vaginal deliveries with no complications for mom is usually 2 days. For c sections it is 3 days. These things depend upon your health insurance in the states. Different health insurances will and won't cover different things. Also the insurance company can veto what the doctor recommends insofar as medications the patient needs. Insurance companies can and do deny a lot of things.

I had my Baby Boy a week ago and I can tell you that this tiny precious Angel is worth every minute of pain I went through (thankfully God blessed me with a 3.5 hour labour and delivery with a 3 contraction pushing stage; there were some problems with delivering the placenta but eventually everything went well). I could do it ten times again if I had to. Don't be afraid, don't listen to scary stories people are telling you. Giving birth is painful but it is not as bad as they say. And I didn't have any epidural. The moment you see the baby nothing else matters. I wish you as fast labour as mine.

I started sleep training on my 3 kids fairly early and the best advice I can give is to teach your baby their days and nights by having it bright and noisy during the day. In the evening you'd like it calm, dark and quiet...The black out curtains help for nap time if you'd like to teach her that's the area to do all sleeping in. You could always add the curtains later but I never really used them until my kids got older..You look fabulous at 29 weeks - the hardest part is the 3rd trimester. So uncomfortable yet so close to seeing the baby lol..

We didn't use black-out blinds/drapes and our daughter can sleep in any kind of lighting. I think it really depends on the child though. You have to do what is best for your baby and your family. Also, I believe most doctors and hospitals in the US like for new moms to stay at least 48 hours after delivery. I had a section and was released after 48 hours. I was SO ready to go home and be in my space with my things. I think it really depends on the doc and the mom.

Eat those words! Babies love to nap in a dark cocoon. You'll be able to have her nap in all sorts of scenarios if you teach her to, but that one big nap of the day should be in a super dark cozy room. You'll love the hour and a half naps. There's so much talk these days about natural circadian rhythms and the importance of good sleep. I've read also that it's important for us to sleep in dark rooms and avoid screens before bed, etc., because it interferes with our natural sleep rhythms. I wonder if the same is true for infants? Do they need dark rooms for every nap or just nighttime sleep?

Was wondering if your scared of the whole labor & delivery? I know I was & after I gave birth I had to actually laught at myself because it was really not scary at all & not as painful as I thought, it's more like having bad cramps that go away as soon as baby is born :) of course I'm talking about pain before the epidural & I still had pressure and pain while pushing but as soon as my child was born the pain was all gone & tolerable. And it was the exact same with all 4 of my children. So that's my question for you is if your scared of the pain or of labor & delivery?

The cabbage is possibly referring more to the weight than the length now. New moms with vaginal births is 2-3 days in a hospital. Repeat moms usually stay 1-2 after birth before going home. I know c-sections are different.

You look so amazing! Are you and Don going with a doula or just your gyn? Also, are you guys going "all natural" with no epidural or have you thought about these things yet? My mom kept a radio playing while I slept or napped, thus I could sleep through anything as a child. Having my own children I didn't "require" complete silence while they slept or napped by also played a radio for both of my kids. My youngest son would wake up as soon as the sun rose in the morning so we ended up installing dark mini blinds in his nursery to help him to sleep longer. Also, my mom didn't pick up her chotchkies ("we" call those "pretties") and neither did I. This was done so if we went to any one's home "we"/they understood those items were no-no's.

Maybe the head of cabbage size indicates the circumference of the cabbage? So when baby is curled up in your tummy, it's that size? I have no clue lol For me this week I'm 18 weeks, so the size of a sweet potato hehe Best of luck!! Love your videos!!!

We have no blinds or curtains in any of our children's rooms. I have also felt that I want my children to be able to sleep anywhere and everywhere. As long as they have had me to cuddle, they are not reliant on any particular light or sound. It's not a crazy idea!

One question I have is...do you notice that Winnie is different now that you are pregnant? I had a dog when I was pregnant long ago and my dog seemed a bit down. And she even got snappy. lol But it all worked out after the baby came. You are looking like you feel well and happy. That is what counts. You said about keeping track of movement. I never did that kind of thing. I guess if the baby would have stopped moving I would have noticed. And as far as black out blinds I never used them for my children. Oh but I did personally for myself in later years and now I have trouble sleeping with out them. I wish I would not have started. lol Big Hugs to Baby, Mom and Dad. :D

Maybe the small head of cabbage is meant to be comparable to the baby in the fetal position.

Have you thought about teaching her baby sign language? I baby sat a couple of babies who had been taught it and it makes everything so much easier, they are able to communicate what the want and it made for a lot less fussing.

I've had a name in mind ever since you announced baby gender - I have a very strong feeling you will pick this name, goodness knows why since I don't personally know you! I just "see" Baby Girl Ross with this name....can't wait to see if I am right! I think it's a great idea to have a few choices - when I was pregnant with my daughter we were thinking she'd be named Maya - then she was born, and had a head full of white blonde hair. Maya just didn't seem to fit a blonde hair/blue eyed baby (to us, anyway!) and we ended up going with Caroline. Next pregnancy we went in with a few selections and a plan to meet baby and see which name stuck. Getting close now Jen, I know your holidays are going to be so happy with both you and Emily expecting. Looking forward to watching and seeing it all unfold!

Baby is all curled up so maybe she is 17" in length, not diameter. My youngest was 24" long at birth, now 14 yr old boy and seems to get taller every day!! Love the nursery decor. x

I recommend keeping the baby's bed close to yours the first months, as you have to wake up every third hour or soif you breastfeed.😄💕 It makes it a little more gentle to be a new mommy😜

Wait until your "What to Expect" app starts shrinking your baby. Like when it tells you your baby is the size of a butternut squash and then the following week it tells you your baby is as big as an of corn. I don't know where they pick their fruits/vegetables from, but from my understanding is a butternut squash is significantly bigger than corn. Ha! Congratulations, none the less. It feels like everyone is due around the same time this year (my due date is Dec 23).

Lol I believe they were comparing the weight of the baby to the weight of a cabbage, but not the length. Anyway, I love your videos and I watch every week ...makes me sad that I'll have to wait 2 weeks for the next one:( lol
