40-min full-body postnatal yoga with postpartum ab workout exercises to tighten and flatten abs after pregnancy. I have been feeling extra tight with the extra stress of quarantine so this is a full-body stretch and feel good routine. Also great for breastfeeding moms with sore backs.

Thanks Jessica. I had my fourth baby in December and am finally-- this time around-- learning about diastasis recti. I am a generally active person and have even continued running or swimming throughout each pregnancy, so I feel ready for more intense exercises. I'm not in my first few weeks/months postpartum anymore, so I don't need the really basic stuff for moms who just gave birth, but I still have a 4-finger diastasis recti, so I need something that I can do regularly, maybe 2-3 times a week, that remains safe for diastasis recti as it hopefully continues to heal. On the other days I walk or hike (no swimming during COVID times!). This video seems like it could be just what I need, but still feels pretty light/easy and doesn't challenge me too much. I'd love to see more videos for moms like me whose bellies have been around the block a time or two... :-) Or four! Also, during stretches like the one where we're sitting with our legs apart and leaning forward in the middle (not sure of the official name of that), what should happen with our belly? I feel like my belly just kind of pooches out and doubles over itself, or triples over itself. Am I supposed to be contracting it somehow? Same with when we stretch to each side with legs splayed out. Lastly, we are Americans but living abroad in a place where prenatal and postnatal exercise isn't very common, so I'm glad to have access to this on KZfaq!

Hi Kara! Congratulations on baby #4... so fun! Yes, each baby is a little harder on our body. What about this HIIT video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jq6Um69mtbu6nKs.html and I have a few other HIIT or workout style videos in my postpartum playlist on my channel that will be a little more challenging than the yoga. I think you want to avoid any “pooching” if forward folds are causing it then you may want to hold back (a physio would be able to tell you for sure) and yes, you want contract like this kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMB6hMqitL-yimQ.html Hope that helps... have a wonderful weekend!

Hey! I also had baby in December and am back into yoga and at the point of looking for more of the old challenges I enjoyed before the pregnancy. I saw your comment here and I was in the exact same position and so when i found this video i remembered your comment. It's got a lot of challenge to work towards and lots of work in the obliques. I would say just take it v easy on the wheel/wild thing/ boat twist as that's probably not good for DR. Xx kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gNJzabyBy7O4hnk.html

You are so welcome. It takes time and consistency , but the exercises at the same time as avoiding movements that cause separation will help to close the DR gap. A belly wrap may also help. Feel free to keep me updated on your progress :)

Jessica, you are simply saving my life. Since I got my child few years ago, I'm fighting to getting back to myself. My diastasis was misdiagnosed and even after I diagnosed it myself, the physiotherapist I saw for a year wasn't so helpful. Before having my kid, I used to exercice everyday (yoga, pilates, cardio) and since then, I couldn't go back to my routines because it was just increasing the diastasis. Since I learn few weeks ago your diaphragmatic breathing, the 2,5 cm gap I had above the navel vanished ! And in France, doctors told me it would be impossible after so long time without surgery. My back is still weak and I hope that my strength will go back slowly but surely. Thank you so much ! You're truly incredible !

Hi Jessica, I love your videos and am just nearing 5 months postpartum but unfortunately we lost our son. I am working on strength and getting my tummy back in shape so we can start again. Your videos are helping me get there- thank you! However since the birth of my son my fingers are still thick which I believe is due to the extra weight I put on. I wanted to reach out to ask if you had any suggestions on hand exercises so I can wear my wedding ring again ?

Can you do this workout with DR?
@PregnancyandPostpartumTV
@PregnancyandPostpartumTV 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dana, This is safe for most moms with DR, however severity of DR varies a lot so make sure not to do anything that causing "coning" of your stomach and check with your doctor or physio to be the most sure.

I'm 5 months + post partum is this practice generally safe for diastasis recti? I keep an eye on my stomach but just worth checking. Thanks
@PregnancyandPostpartumTV
@PregnancyandPostpartumTV 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Katie, Yes, it's designed to be safe for diastasis recti. I have quite a few physios that recommend this yoga class to their clientele as well with DR. It's good you are keeping an eye on your stomach for no coning or pain :) If you still aren't sure then a physio would be able to do an individual assessment :)

Hi Nagiah, you should ask your doctor to be sure, but women can do this exercise to help with weight at any point after baby (after they have been cleared by doctor at about weeks postpartum) for years after too

Usually doctors give clearance 6-8 weeks after c-section for gentle exercises like this. At 12 weeks you should be approved unless there were complications, but check with your doctor to be on the safe side :)

@PregnancyandPostpartumTV

Hi 👋 You will want to get clearance first from your doctor (usually 6-8 weeks after c-section). Then these are designed for postpartum including after c-section, but always check first in case :)
