In this video, I discuss all of my 1st trimester pregnancy symptoms both physically & emotionally from my autistic perspective. Pregnancy can be difficult regardless of your neuro-type but I want to share my experience and thoughts as an autistic woman. This video is raw, emotional, and vulnerable but I feel its important to share one version of what pregnancy can be.
‪@YoSamdySam‬ is another autistic creator that's pregnant! Check out her 1st trimester video • First trimester pregna...

Thank you! I love our little trailer... It has made camping in rainy PNW a much more enjoyable experience for me lol. My necklace is labradorite and is believed to help with the throat chakra, allowing those working with it to better speak their truth. It's one of my favorite pendants 😘

I’m autistic too, and 3 months pregnant with my first baby. Like when I’m on my period, I’ve noticed that pregnancy my sensory issues get way worse and I feel so overloaded socially and emotionally and sensory wise.

Congratulations! I felt the same way when finding about about my current pregnancy. I had already decided not to have more children, and had reservations about having more children with a very strong genetic autism connection on my family’s side. My oldest just got diagnosed, and so I just wanted to be fair to my kids too. Obviously, the universe has other plans lol. I was supposed to get an IUD when I found out. Hope you are feeling well and that baby is growing well! I’m 16 weeks, so I’m sure you are pretty far now!

Hi, new here. Congratulations! It kind of sounds like you're going to have a baby girl. I had 3, 1 girl and 2 boys. I've watched 3 of your videos so far and I'm enjoying you.

@@neurodivergentme Thank you! Yay, I'm so glad you're having a girl! Now you are complete one boy and one girl. My first baby was a girl. When she was 4 I found out she had ADHD. She is 20 years old now and I wonder if she actually has ASD. She is my best friend and I am hers. She tells me that. She is so much like me, it is scary. I truly hope you enjoy the mini version of you. You are so blessed!

Warning the following is fairly blunt but not meant in any way to be mean but educate on difficulties of ASD and parenting. Autism is genetic just keep that in mind when having children. Which is why I am not having children, it runs in both sides of my family. Also babies scream and set off autistic sensory issues, another reason. My mother is most likely undiagnosed autistic and she was really uptight growing up especially with sensory triggers. She also had a hard time nurturing us too probably because of her Autism. And shared really inappropriate things with my older brother. And also children learn social skills from parents.

I appreciate your comment and I didn't take it as mean. Parenting is difficult regardless of a persons neurotype. I admit that it does come with its own challenges but I believe that neurodivergent individuals that make the choice to have children are just as capable of being amazing parents as neurotypicals. I'm really sorry that you had a difficult experience with your mother. I would speculate that part of problem could be the lack of knowledge and awareness of her neurotype that often allows for a better understanding of ones self, their needs, and appropriate support. I'm guessing your mom was born during a time when these things weren't available. I'm only speaking for myself but loving, supporting, and nurturing my children has never been a challenge. I don't approach parenthood lightly. Having my children grow into kind well-adjusted humans is my top priority and I'm aware that in order for that to happen, I have to continue embracing my own personal growth and humility. I think that might be a key component for anyone to be successful as a parent. What kind of topics would you like to see more education on?

@@neurodivergentme well then more power to you for taking on that challenge. :) and it's really great you are being very mindful about your parenting decisions because I worked with high risk youth for 8 years and a lot of their parents were not mindful about having them at all. It's great that you are intentionally and not taking the world's hardest unpaid job lightly at all. I'm sure your efforts will pay off. And yes my mother was product of effed up 1950s, 1960s parenting, sadly.

Can your child become Autistic too?

ADHD and Autism is believed to have genetic components but there isn’t enough research to know for sure. This has obviously been something that I have thought about and I always end the thought feeling the same way... it shouldn’t matter. Neurodivergent individuals have so much to offer the world and are the most genuine people I have known.
