Parasaurolophus is always portrayed as a defenseless pushover Dino, even tho in real life they would have most likely always have defended themselves if they could. One of the largest fossiles found of this dinosaur suggests that its weight estimate (not average size im talking about the largest one found) puts it at around 11 or 12 tonnes which is very impressive

Would it have defended itself with tail slaps or pushing the predators? Because I have no clue ho most hadrosaurs defended themselves.

@shadowmarauder6033 There are a few ways: Some fossilized mummy specimens of hadrosaurs, like Edmontosaurus, show that they had hooves (or hoof like structures). They were also quite fast, especially given their size. Imagine elephant sized animals running and quicking like horses at 45 kilometers per hour. On top of that, their back feet are quite robust, and their sheering beaks used for eating plants could give quite formidable bites. A stampede of a hadrosaur herd, particularly adults, could be quite dangerous if need be.

@shadowmarauder6033 probably with it's shear weight. It's hard to say really because we can't see it alive. It may of headbutted. It certainly didn't use it's forlimbs as they aren't particularly strong or muscular

I wanted to thank you for NOT being a stick in the mud for anything "not accurate". Far too much dino enthusiasts have to be stuck up and declare anything "not accurate" as not worthy of ever being discussed or throw a fit should anyone praise such older designs. You are the FIRST person to actually have fun with these many shapes, colors, postures and overall designs of a species of dinosaur. It is a huge relief to me, and actually makes me happy about dinosaurs all over again.

its bothersome when some interpretations are going for their own fantasy design like ark or carnivores and people act like they are inaccurate and somehow ruining the image of the dinosaur.

In the movie "We're Back" They actually do have alternate designs for the dinosaur characters. Those overly characterized designs are them when made more intelligent and look far closer to their real life counterpart beforehand

Parasaurolophus is my favorite dinosaur, along with other hadrosaurids! Especially love Dinosaur King and Dino Thunder's inclusions. A few other times it shows up are in Power Rangers Dino Charge (Black Ranger is Parasaurolophus, as is his Zord), Dinotopia (they're like city guards, I _think_ a few are ridable? or something else I'm thinking of had ridable Paras), Primal (it's the zombified and infected dino that bites the Argentinosaurus), and a wild card but the Jedi Coleman Trebor from Attack of the Clones is very Parasaur-inspired in his design

I think it goes without saying at this point that the PK Parasaurolophus is easily one of the best. The Jurassic Park series has a few nice ones, I particularly like the Dominion design for the dinosaur (despite my feelings of the movie itself). And even though they’re very blurry, I do like the original JP look they had. The JW website also has a very nice design with striking colors. The Carnivores reboot has a pleasant design, sporting some nice, more soothing colors.

beasts of burmuda is a game i play often. as far as colors, players are given a full color wheel with opacity, saturation, and luminosity sliders, each skin you can choose from has its own zones so you can fully customize it, and there are a lot of body language emotes you can use as well. the game takes itself seriously, but not *too* seriously, since theres also 'taunts' you can earn that, for example, has your para twerking and swinging its massive tail around like a helicopter. absolutely phenomenal game

I don't know if it was made for this purpose or not but I saw it when I went in Futuroscope as a kid, around the year 2002. You forgot to cover the Parasaurolophus that show up in both JW and JWFK. The Para in JW is my favorite Para design from the movies, I just love the gazelle-like colors with the red stripe on its back. I'm pretty sure that some of the Paras in Dominion had those same colors too though. Regarding your thoughts that a Parasaurolophus wouldn't be able to stun enemies with its honking, I personally think that there might be some truth to it. Parrots are capable of producing some very loud noises in order to defend themselves from predators. And, the hairs in the ears of birds are actually capable of regenerating after being damaged, unlike us mammals. So, perhaps in addition to running away and kicking with its front hooves, Parasaurolophus could have defended itself by emitting an especially loud honk, thereby stunning or scaring away the predator, and then regenerating the damaged hair cells in its ears.

Parasaurolophus has been my favourite dinosaur since I was a kid. The reason for this was the strange crest, the duckbill like mouth and because of it's gentle and calm looking appearance. When I draw the dinosaur, the way I depict them is with a mostly green body, a light yellowish underside and a bright red crest. My favourite depictions of the animal in media include those featured in the Jurassic franchise, Prehistoric Park and mostly in Prehistoric Kingdom. I'm not a fan of the skin flap connecting the crest with the back of the head and neck because it looks like like it restricts head movement and if it gets torn from a predators bite or claw strike, it could bleed out. The one issue I have with the Parasaurolophus (Along with the other large Ornithopods) in Prehistoric Kingdom is the lack of cheekpouches, Now it makes their mouths look a bit too lizard-like.

A game called Paleo Pines also has parasaurolophuses. The dinosaur you start out with is a para named Lucky. What I like is that they show the para’s walking on four legs when they walk slowly and on two legs when they walk fast. Also, at the beginning of the game, there’s a short scene showing Lucky growing up and you can she that there’s differences as she ages, like her crest gets longer. There’s also a ton of different colors and patterns. And I like that you can pet the dinosaurs in the game.

With all the obscure media on your list, I feel it should have had Dinosaur Adventure 3D. I don't know how popular it is at all to the wider dinosaur audience, but as a kid growing up in the 90s/20s this 1999 game was a core memory. Anyway, that game stars Rolf, the parasaurolophus, as he explores the island he calls home and finds a way to drive out an invasive t-rex. The game is focused on edu-tainment with a very young audience in mind, so it's not particularly scientifically accurate but teaches some fun facts. For example, the 3 sections of the island feature environments from the 3 different mesozooic periods. The game features CG and cartoon creatures and Rolf is one of the purely cartoon characters. He's bipedal in a sort of kangaroo stance with functional hands, a teal, purple, and white/beige color scheme, and every now and when prompted he'll use his horn to make trumpet sounds like a Looney Tune. Like I said, it's nothing groundbreaking, but there's a couple of hours of content in that game with Rolf on screen at basically all times, so I thought it was worth mentioning.

Parasaurolophus has had some great moments throughout the Jurassic franchise through Lost World, JP3, Dominion, and Camp Cretaceous. I like the Dominion design, but I wish there were more cosmetics by now for the game so that I can use it more like how I use the Dominion Dreadnoughtus a lot more than the Frontier look. I would love to see them go from walking on fours and running on two locomotion in a future update for the Evolution games.

Beasts of Bermuda is my personal favorite dinosaur game for game mechanics. Bloodlines, real life rare mutations like albinism to the lesser known Xanthochromism. No joke. This game also has very realistic weather, tides of the sea, natural disasters like wildfires, droughts, dry Lightning, wind storms, rain, tornadoes, flooding, etc, etc. The game also implemented stress as apart of survival. Managing your bloodline tree/talant tree you can be better at survival; aka you don't stress out easily, more health, better food intake, scavenging for carnivores without getting sick from rotten corpses etc. Or you can focus on speed, agility, being able to run up hills better, turning, stealth, etc. Or combat. Focusing on self defense with pure offense capabilities, Stamina to attack or use abilities, etc. Anything from causing more bleed, breaking bones more easily with attacks or quicker attack secession. Or a mix between these. The bloodline or talent tree works like 0 is normal. You can place 3 points into any talent going from the center then outwards, so you'd have to put 3 points all the way up the tree of either survival, speed or combat to get to skills furthest out in order to max out that potential. *_HOWEVER_* Being hatched in you can earn your parents abilites to be anything from +1, or +2 [that you will just automatically have when it unlocks at griwth stages] for a total of 5 max points. You aldo inherent a mix of your parents appearance ls, or look like one at least... unless you were born weird. You can also get these +1/+2 bonuses from just rng luck. Will uour dino be aquatic build where it can hold its breathe and swim quickly? Or..... opposite; have *_negative_* traits. Usually caused by being a inbred offspring, sometimes just being unlucky. Not all animals are good at things others are. You can get -1, or -2, etc. To your talents. Also being inbred, you can have negative..... inbred appearance. There is also a elder and aging system in BoB. The older you get, the more strong or big sure-- but you also need to eat more, you become more easily susceptible to illness or have a harder time getting better from being sick just like real life eldery animals. It... truly has THEE MOST mecanics in ANY survival game. I love it for that. To be able to smell and see scent trails, or burrow and create a warden as a small dinosaur, or be a massive apatosaurus, a small Velociraptor which can climb trees or leap great distances, prowl as a megalosaurus, swim and be a Ancient reptile waiting to snatch unsuspecting drinking prey, and so on. EVERY. SINGLE. CREATURE. Is vastly different from another, and i love that.

I actually used to own a copy of T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous on dvd, after picking it up in a bargin bin in Germany. If memory serves, it's not very long but it was pretty fun. Basically a teenage girl is staying with her paleontologist dad and is unhappy that he is dating some new woman. Whilst out fossil hunting, the dad discovesr a fossilized skeleton of a struthiomimus (possibly? It was nearly 20 years ago that I watched this film) with a series of deep puncture wounds in its tail, indicating it had been bitten there. However he nearly falls down a cliff and in the process, finds a nest of fossilized eggs. Bringing one back to the museum, he steps out for the evening and the daughter finds the egg. She knocks it off the table, where it unleashes a cloud of gas and... well I have to assume she starts hallucinating, since she wanders the museum and suddenly finds herself back in the Cretaceous. She explores for a while and encounters a few dinosaurs and stumbles across a nest, where the struthiomimus whose skeleton they found earlier is trying to steal an egg. The girl tries to save the eggs by fighting off the struthiomimus, only for the mother t-rex to show up, grab the struthiomimus by its tail and yeet it away, whilst the girl catches the egg it was stealing. She returns the egg and the t-rex seems grateful, but then the K-T asteroid falls from the sky and obliterates the scene. The girl finds herself back in the museum, where she reconciles with her dad and informs him that he's going to be famous since he has found the first ever t-rex egg. The film ends just after they leave, as the egg hatches out into a baby t-rex, which roars and attacks the camera.
