My grandmother was the church pianist for as long as I can remember up until arthritis prevented her from playing anymore. I miss hearing he play but can’t wait until I can hear her playing for the heavenly choir.

Wonderful playing!! I wish I could do that kind of playing, from early, and 100% improvised. I DO have a college piano degree that is 42 years in history; but, it was classical training (Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, etc.) while I praise God he gave me ability to accompany soloists, play the music as he composer/arranger (in the case of Jay Rouse, etc). But, it would be nice to just sit there WITHOUT score and “jam,” as it were.

Prelude is my favorite time to play! Especially the upbeat ones!

Takes me right back 65 years, even modulating keys which was a favourite trick. Once heard our pianist go up a semitone for each verse, right through the scale. Amazingly everyone stayed with him.

I love this style of piano music. My son and I livestream at my church. We do a 5 minute lead-in before the service begins with announcements.
