Highland calfs usually weigh between 50 to 75 lbs at birth so at 29 lbs you were really facing an uphill battle. I'm so very sorry that the little bull didn't make it but you did everything you could. Love your channel and your good hearts. God Bless

The cow knocking him down makes me think she knew something wasn't right. His size was so tiny which makes me wonder if he was a preemie or even possibly a twin. Watch the cow to make sure she cleans. I know you know this! So sorry for your loss! Your success with this breed needs to turn around!

This summer has been brutal for farmers and their livestock. I have seen so many families with premature or particularly small babies. Dusty has lost a few bison babies this year when red dogs are usually strong and fightsy from the start. On one of the videos I heard a veterinarian explaining that usually it is very hot during the day but cools way down at night giving the animal’s body a chance to regulate their temperature and replenish the body. The weather we have all been having has been so unusually hot for a consistently long time that the nights were not much cooler and the pregnant mamas have been struggling to keep themselves healthy and hydrated that the babies may not have gotten all that they needed to develop appropriately. It was not your fault nor the mama’s. It is the truth of life and farming. Love ❤️

Oh no 😢! Sorry for your loss. Love the Sam Unruh song. We are farmers here in Nebraska, Panhandle. Harvest from all the hailstorms are not going well so far for my family and extended family and others. Asking for prayers as the harvest goes on that the yields improve. So far not so good. We had great moisture this year. The storms were horrible this year. A lot of crops totally destroyed.

I am glad Tom Henry is staying in where he belongs, lol The ram seams to be very friendly but yes I would give him all the respect he needs, Cassie has some beautiful chickens, Oh my goodness the calf was so tiny and you never saw him feed on to Cee Cee, and she pushed him down in front of you so I an thinking he had no chance. Everyone is having bad luck with calving this year. My son-in-law and daughter run about 185 head, and they said it's a bad year. He thinks the heat this summer had the mommas stressed. At least that's all he could think that, and the tanks are low creek is trying to dry up it all adds to their stress level and the stress can lead to small babies. Sorry for your loss hoping the rest of your caving season is good.
