Tough call indeed for Bath at a crucial moment. Knees on the ground should be an awarded tackle whether the ref calls it or not. These ripping phases need some clean up from world rugby imo

@@romainviry3185 World Rugby is useless. They only care about avoiding class law suits by ex players. Head contact is all they can see. What happened to, putting a ball straight into a scrum, being behind the ball at restart kicks and box kicks, not cleaning from the side, keeping the gap in the lineouts, staying behind the last feet at rucks? If the referees will just blow the exciting laws things will be ten times better.

The inconsistencies is what gets me. In the Stormers vs Glasgow game a player jumping to catch the ball was hit in the face whiles in the air by an opponent that was never going to catch the ball and not even a card was given. Then at a maul that was moving sideways a player joined and made head contact, totally accidental and was given a yellow. In my opinion the Bath player should have recieved a yellow card nothing more. Both players were bent, and niether was upright. There is no way they could have avoided that collision. I didn't watch the whole game, did Jarno go for an HIA and did he pass? In many cases the players won't even be asked to go for a HIA, which kind of makes the whole players safety argument sound like BS.

@@wlk2408 I agree he should have had an HIA , as for the player’s position Abano was hitting up so his technique was pour , Sam Underhill was smashing people all day and never came close a yellow card . There are inconsistencies, and it is frustrating for the viewer , England lost a World Cup final in 2007 based on the refs phrasing of the question , Bath got back in the game after a possible knock on , but the ref asked the question believing the try had been scored so it stood , players make mistakes , referees make , mistakes , even the reply ref can’t sort out . But for me it was as clear a red as I’ve seen in a while .

I stay with my statement, a player comming around a corner and dropping his shoulder always make the possibility of such unfortunate head contacts more likely. Personally I would like to see yellow cards rather than reds.

Cheers mate for that waffle. World Cup was decide by 2 missed kicks at goal. Bath were ahead with 10 mins to go so clearly it didn’t decide this game either. I would be up for a 20 minute red card like in super rugby but the main point is that is an absolute clear and blatant red by Obano, and actually no, head contact is not to be accepted in the game if it is avoidable. This was clearly avoidable if Obano improved his technique and went lower, so it is a red card but if you want a load of CTEs and problems once your 60 then go play league and get your head whacked in mate, even more than it clearly has been already

In both matches the red card had the effect of galvanizing the teams to play far better rugby! ABs were playing crap and trying to take out Boks until then, then realized they had to actually play rugby to win. and they nearly pulled it off.

Maybe the players should stop doing things that warrant a red card? Don't blame the ref, maybe the rules need adjusting but as they are now the players and the ref have a duty to follow them

Or just get players to stop going for the head stupidly...
