You could say that the message of the song "Too Sweet" is that the singer has a different lifestyle to his partner. The singer prefers partying late into the night, drinking and being independent, while his partner is an early bird and interested in life and his decision to stay true to his lifestyle is important to him so he can drink whiskey and coffee and go out late into the night. Allie gets the message of the song across so convincingly that you'd think she could turn this lifestyle - drinking whiskey and coffee and going out late into the night - into an alternative.
