Any KZfaq I learn from is a winner. The kits I built for Beautiful Bride, myself, and our young troops have many similarities to yours. Safe water is a top priority here in the tropics and our kits are built around that concept. The kits that were sent to school with the younguns did contain a quality pocket knife because no pocket knives are allowed on their person at school. It was a good thing when the Philippine DepEd (Department of Education) asked parents to send "emergency bags" to be kept at school with each student. We went far beyond what was asked for, sending 72-hour bags with rations, folding stoves with fuel, shelter materials, a med kit, and a separate emergency survival tin with each child. The same gear they practice with at home and on family trips. Thank you for the heads up on the high temp water bags and the use of the potassium permanganate to "harden" your feet. This a great tip for old geezers like me that do not get out as much as we used to.

We just went through 72 hours of no electricity and freezing temperatures here in Texas. The water supply was also affected. Many people died. Many lessons learned. Great video. Thanks for sharing. 🏆

Nice piece of kit, I really love mine. Instead of the tape around it, I have to pieces of Bankline with an arbor knot/jam knot to keep everything nice and tidy.

I have a couple of vitamin tablet tubes dotted around the pack containing pixie dust, my own blend of ground down domestic firelighters, icing sugar and Potassium nitrate, its a cracking bit of gear and like your hexis, it's a last resort "Fkn bowdrill p.o.s..." method of getting a burn on. Pots with Pixie dust in are also wrapped in innertube and or duct tape so as not to be confused with my sugar/powdered milk stashes.

A bit late but wabted to say the bag idea is great. To often i isee these kits with everything loose - for me anything not in a bag or container will eventually get misplaced and potentially lost forever

I saw (no pun intended,) something about the importance of getting a quality version of the wire hand saws. There's some real shit out there, that pinch at the loop, snap, pull apart, etc. This guy actually recommended one made with sort of chainsaw saw teeth, that looked pretty heavy duty. I don't know if such a robust one is necessary, probably good lighter weight ones, but it made clear the importance of checking all your kit is up to scratch quality-wise ahead of time.

Cheers, PP, the cook in bags are made of nylon, not plastic, and thus have a higher melting point. Other options for water bags are the stand-up type by Whirlpack and/or the milk holding bags used to store milk by breast-feeding mothers,however the cook-in bag or crock-pot liners sold here in USA fold flattest and take up least amount of space. I appreciate in your other vid how you have essential gear on lanyards or leashes. Anyone who has ever fumbled some gear or put something down and lost something essential like a pocket knife knows the value of this tip. You never saw any old pictures of arctic explorers without the idiot strings attached to their mittens. You can usually tell by the no nonsense advice,like yours, the people who have real field experience. Thanks for your hard work and sharing!

Great kit. Potassium permagnate can also be used as an oxidizer to help start a fire when combined sugar.

I agree you gotta pack your own kit so you know what's in there and what works for you. I keep a derma safe razor in my kit as a back up to my back up blade. My kit weakness is no signaling mirror. I like the wazoo water bag. Gonna look for them. Thanks and cheers mate.

I liked your video. I dont know if you noticed it but it looks like the tube is cracked that holds the potassium. You might add some tylenol or acetaminophen in there and some bandaids, and a small blade.
