This morning, I’m sharing my process for prepping a new chasen for transitionally-whisked matcha and showing you how I make a simple bowl of matcha. I’m also excited about my new matcha bowl!

I’m a big tea gal, but I’ve never made matcha. My mom got me a matcha set and I had no idea how to make it, so I’m glad I found this video. 😊

I was told rubbing the matcha in the softer can bring out bitterness in the tea. It was recommended to simply shake the sifter to remove the risk of creating a bitter flavor. 👍🏼

Dry the warmed bowl, so the powder doesn’t stick to the bottom. Lift the whisk slightly & whisk over the surface gently to pop the larger bubbles.

Thank you for this! I got a Japanese matcha kit and wasn't able to make my own froth, even though I swear I've been able to whisk other foods before. Turns out the instructions on the kit I have say to use about the same matcha powder but double the water. I drank half of it, then used your technique and started to get froth. 😄

Awwww first off: thank you so much!!! I’m so touched that you mentioned me. 🥰🥰🥰 Second: this is exactly what I needed. So informative and excellent information!! 🙌 Question: do you leave the whisk on the holder in between sessions or just to dry? Thanks so much!!! 🥰🙌🙌🙌

How about doing a Battle of matcha gear. Together with a matcha battle Cheapo VS Normal VS expensive For the Cheapo you Source everything from Aliexpress/wish for the Normal one you use the Gear you already have {Assuming they are not from aliexpress/wish} For the Expensive You look at the ones supplied by a Ceremonial Matcha Tea store. And have Friends Taste test it Blindfolded. So they do not know what cup is what. For the Matcha you can use Something like: Cheapo: Culinary matcha Normal: Standard quality Matcha Expensive: Ceremonial Grade So they all have to taste test 9 Cups of matcha.

I have done a video where I compare a traditional whisk to an electric frother. As far as cheap vs. expensive, that would be a fairly involved conversation about craftsmanship (traditionally, part of the tea ceremony is to examine the tea scoop, which was often the most prized part of the tea kit) and aesthetics vs. function. It's an interesting idea, but I should probably do a bit more study with an actual master first!

@@thebarefoottealady They do not have to be 9 Normal sized Bowls. What you can do is Use Shot-glasses for the test. so the Amount of Matcha they would drink is at most 2 Cups. for the test of the Whisk maybe do that together with a Professional and have him/Her explain why a Good whisk is better than the Cheapest thing you can find. Was asking it since i recently got some "Culinary class" matcha Myself. {bought Culinary mainly since it was the first time buying, and I mainly wanted to use it in recipes, and Occasionally drink it} and if i Like it i might start looking into More expensive Gear/Matcha powder. To be honest there are not many Types of tea i like. one of the very few tea's i like is "junshan yinzhen" and Matcha {Currently testing a few things like Macha latte. and other recipes}.

ur forgetting a very important thing, macha will lose the health benefits, and the taste will be altered if you use metal with it. its the reason why you use bamboo scoops etc
@thebarefoottealady
@thebarefoottealady 2 жыл бұрын
This is entirely false and has absolutely nothing to do with this video. I drink matcha for the experience and the flavor, not for any supposed health benefits. The reason for using bamboo is that steel wasn't widely used in the 16th century when the matcha ceremony was codified.
