For those who get the "nasty edge thing"...you can get excellent results, by using the pen tool to outline parts of your image...right click, choose selection, then expand if necessary...and fill with desired colors...works for me!

I have suggestion to make for when you are creating the clipping masks. I don't think you need to make an outline and then fill. You could magic wand tool the line art and make a new layer then fill it on the new layer. I would be happy to show you what I mean via video or print screen

Downloaded Photoshop CS6 recently and I found this tutorial quite useful. I was wondering if you could make a tutorial on color theory and how to get the right shadow color/how to make colors pop out (egoraptor/johnnyutah style), look cold/hot, how to make them blend very well/how to choose right colors... forget everything I just said. pretty much a tutorial on colors. thanks.

hmm i always just choose ctrl+click the layer to make selection and do it that way and just make more layers...but i been doing it that way for many years lol,but also for many years i only used the pen tool for alot of my process because of only using mouse and keyboard,but now i recently aquired a large wacom tablet.

No idea about the anxiety, but Im shaky in photoshop too, so I usually do my linework in illustrator or flash, then move that linework into photoshop. (illustrator and flash have a line smoothing feature.)

I'm having trouble creating the clipping masks for the eyes is there something I need to do before I finish the skin layer, so that I can see the eyes(clipping masks)

I just can't comprehend masks in Photoshop, its so confusing to me. I will try this

No have had to give up! If you do happen to see this could you explain how you did this section. I cannot select Marquee tool after magic wand by hitting M so I never got to fill. I could not see how you refined the mask either. I think a Martian wrote this application. I can use Motion, Final Cut, Garageband but Photoshop scares me stiff. Perhaps you could slow down a bit in the tricky parts.

I've tried doing this but when I try to draw with a darker colour for shading it doesn't show up, it goes underneath everything so I can only see when I turn off the line work, someone help please?!!

So when I tried to fill in the color to get rid of the ugly line, I magic wanded the section I wanted to fill, I expanded the selection to 7, because my sketch is rougher and I suck at straight lines. At the top of the page(because I'm running Photoshop 7.0 it doesn't have a selection for fill when I left click but over all has all of the same features so far) I selected foreground color. I selected the correct color and clicked the selection with the bucket. The line remained... What do I do?

Hi Jazza, when i use clipping masks in my photoshop elements the colour appeares alot lighter than the original i chose. Is there any settings i need to toggle on / off to fix this? thanks for the help, and great vid :)
