The skill for reading can develop really fast when young children start with matching letters with their sounds. The large movable alphabet is introduced to the child before commencing the pink series activity; where the child practices the act of blending in preparation for reading.
The large movable alphabets facilitate transition for the sandpaper letters, it also underpins word building without the physical act of writing. It is a superb piece of material which can be used, in time, for writing messages, playing onset and rime games.
For the child with poor motor skills, it is a delight to see him/her being able to express his/her thoughts for the first time through the written word! Truly ‘writing without writing.’
