In this week's video Bo and his sons clean out the wine-making cellar as well as clear the aisle in our Alley of Trees. We have future plans for both these locations to support wedding ceremonies and celebrations. Karen explains our decision to start doing Patreon and details the various levels where you can patronize us. If you decide to do that, you have our sincerest thanks. The rest is the typical day-in-the-life.

Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

Bo, put all the leaves in a compost pile. You can add some Bonemeal to help them break down. Add your coffee grounds and egg shells from breakfast service as well It will be a wonderful amendment for your large, front flowerbed and free. You could also check if there is old chicken manure or other manure in the former stables. It has to be scooped out. You can use it for flower beds.

For the postcards, you can use stamping supplies and embossing tools to do that!

Bo (and Karen❤) you and the boys did a great job on clearing those leaves. That is such a beautiful walkway. Keep cleaning that area out whenever you have extra hands. It’s truly enchanting and I’m so fortunate to have seen it in person. And I think it’s wonderful that you are now on Patreon!

Thanks a lot Donna! To see our place in person, is the best way to see it. I always try to make use of the extra hands for bigger projects when I can. The boys did a great job, and we will continue to clear the area from now on. Karen is a creative person, hopefully the Patreon will help her become even more creative. Bo

I had the same issue with the gas bottle, after my husband passed away. Apparently if you pour hot water over the tank, the resulting condensation indicates the gas level….who knew?

Don't worry about content for you Patreon. If your followers care about supporting you and your mission, extra content perks don't matter as much. Look at Dan. 🤷‍♀ Anyway, you show valuable advice with you trials and tribulations in a new business venture. You are real. That's admirable.

as far as the adds go people who don't want to watch adds have that option people who want to support you by watching the adds only have to watch adds for 30sec up to the viewer you have to do all you can to earn money to help with the renovation of your beautiful chateau. just saying.

I can't believe someone said something about your home gym. It isn't like you can go to a Planet Fitness or a YMCA when you have 20 minutes free and you can pop into your own space or early in the morning before guests...Good luck with your Patreon account and everything!

Patreon you have to be a member but buy me a coffee allows for one time donation or special project fundraising. KZfaq if you pay which I do to be ad freeI see no ads but I think if not paid you see KZfaq’s ads anyway. We only see your sponsorship video if you put in because you make it . I know it has to feel good to have extra hands.Don’t feel bad Karen I learn the hard way too. I think I have been in the city to long. So happy you guys are doing fantastic jobs.

Karen, I went for a pedicure today. It was almost finished as she was using the pumice stone around my bottom left ankle when she saddening struck a small vein that was gushing blood. Everyone in the shop had no idea what to do. Luckily I am a nurse, I got them to cover with paper towel and keep pressure on it while the owner popped to Dollarama next door for bandage. He came back with one instead bandage. I got my sock home and wanted to pay, but they were all sorry and refused my money 3 times. I told them it was nothing she did. I just have fine veins. Thank goodness. I drove home and woke my hubby to apply another big ace bandage. I am trying pressure for a day or two. I had this happen before and the hospital didn't know what to do, so I did the same now, as I done then. I just was out of hospital for surgery under general anastesia. I am in no hurry to go back. I am a nurse so now I am my own patient. The wine cellar area looks great. We'll done guys. I am glad you don't do ads. I find they are very intrusive. I tell KZfaq, too on their surveys Congrats on your Patreon Page. I love all of your ideas.❤

Oh my gosh. Your poor nail tech probably felt awful. Not to mention you! Goodness. I can imagine they wouldn’t let you pay. I’m glad, in a way, it wasn’t your first time and that you’re a nurse so you knew what to do. I wish I had that know-how. Yes. Hurting yourself is no fun. Thank you for the kind words. 😊

Have you thought about joining a local pétanque team? I have been invited to join a pétanque team very recently, where I live, and I am absolutely loving it. It is a good way to mingle with the locals and to discover talent that you didn't know you had. Just an idea.

@queensescape You will not believe it, but it turns out that I might have talent for this game/sport. I am very slim (physically) and decided to go for advice with a trainer first, as the boules are so heavy for me. I did not want to injure myself. I now do weight training every morning in order to strengthen my arms, wrists, and back. I play with a mixed team on Tuesday, and a men's team has invited me to play pétanque with them on Wednesdays and Fridays. This Wednesday, yesterday, it was my first match with the men. One man has even given me a set of heavier (better) boules, no joke intended. It improved my game immediately! One man and I played the other two men. We won 2-1!! For a novice that is not bad, I reckon. I need to keep it up. Try it, you will like it. Have fun!

Hello Tracey, that’s exactly right. This is our private home. Only some parts of it is open to our guests. But we feel like this big house should have life and people in it, and we really enjoy welcoming guests all the time. It’s exciting to meet all those people. Bo

That’s true. We close off the kitchen, living room and my work room in the downstairs area. Nonetheless, Bo has found people sitting on our couch despite the PRIVATE signs. I’m glad it was him and not me. I would have been tongue tied. 😂

Can the guests use the gym? With the side buildings- how many gites can you convert?

Hello Francis, the plan is to convert the caretakers apartment in the outbuildings into a Gite. That project should start in the fall this year. We don’t know when that might be finished. Hopefully next spring. I will let Karen answer about the gym. Bo

I have been thinking about offering the gym to the guests after we fix up the walls down there. I think we’d need to set up a waiver so we’re not responsible for injury… but I know some people love to keep their program going when they’re on vacation, so I’d like to be someone who facilitâtes that. I guess I’m still thinking about it.

Good idea to start patreon, although it is a treat to watch your vlogs, I slightly disagree with your choice not to advertise during your video, at least once during the vlog. Fans are able to skip the advertising if we want to. Personally I watch the advertising or make a coffee in between advertisements so that this supports you, that’s why I watch. I’m personally not in the position to join patreon, I only wish I could, I would definitely support your channel. Love watching you keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see what you do for the weddings in the future. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧🥰

Most people just do 5 levels. I would not have done 6, but we have 6 Queens and I couldn’t leave out Elizabeth. I agree that no one will probably support us at that level, and that’s okay. The big thing you get at that level is the art print and it’s also available at the lower Eleanor level. I did look at other accounts to set the prices and it looked as though the price for each level basically doubled. I think there’s a price point for all, but I do appreciate your feedback. You have to imagine me sitting my myself and wondering…. Is this right?!? So, I mean it when I say I appreciate the input. 😊

@@queensescape Hi Karen, first I apologize for the tone of my message. I deeply want you guys to succeed and grow the business so when I say “that’s crazy” it’s more like two girlfriends chatting over a glass of wine☺️ The 6 levels, I get, there’s symmetry to that, I’m just concerned you may be pricing yourself out at highest tier. We watch a few of the chateau vlogs, and the more popular ones like Stephanie, Terry & Ash & Dan appear to top out at $100 or so and all three seem to be doing pretty well with number of viewers (KZfaq $) and Patreon, albeit Stephanie is the only one who posts her monthly Patreon revs. Lastly, and I’m sure you & Bo have already done so, I believe all three of them set up a non-profit company for their Patreon funds which strictly will go to the renovations/rebuilding of their respective chateaus. Otherwise, there are pretty big tax implications here in France. Of course, with Bo (and I assume you through marriage) being citizens of Denmark and part of EU, things may be different for you. Good luck and please put out more frequent content. We’ve been following you since the beginning and are amazed everything you’ve done in less than a yr!
