Preparing our VW California Camper van for Epic 2024 Adventures !
2024 is here and we will be off on our first adventure in our VW California very soon, so we need to get the camper van ready ....! In this video we cover our service prep and plans for the upcoming year in our VW California.

So Who are Campervan Journey?
We are JT, Harry, Claire, Sam and Ben, oh and Hunny the Dog. We discovered campervanning in 2015 when we bought our first Volkswagen T5 Combo after seeing many at our favourite campsites. We were staying with our tent, and dreaming that one day we would have our own Campervan. After much research, we bought and converted our own T5 Kombi to suit our requirements, check out the video on the channel. We soon discovered that owning a Campervan is a way of life and it is not just about amazing trips round Europe, it’s as much about great days out and family time…
We have been lucky enough to visit some amazing places with our van, many of which we know we wouldn’t have seen if we had not owned it. They instil a sense of adventure and where shall we go into your life.
After 3 years with the T5, we upgraded to a Volkswagen T6 California Beach, our current van, and we continue to enjoy travelling and visiting some amazing places. You can check out our latest videos and adventures here on the channel !

Another great video. If you’ve not already been the Jungfrau region of Switzerland is great for camping and exploring especially if you like a hike. Went with my two sons in 2022 and had a great week, we did a number of fairly easy hikes surrounded by stunning scenery using the cog railways and cable cars to get up the really steep bits. Also took the train up to the top of the Jungfraujoch which was awesome.

Good to see somebody else keeping all their paperwork in an organised way. I recently sold a car that I had owned for 20 years from new. The buyer was blown away that I had kept every receipt for all work done for 20 years and in date order.

With the sliding door, I’ve got the same problem or had the same problem with my ID buzz. There’s a little lever that Locks if you just move it into the lock position and slide the door. It should solve the problem so click the lever in the position that it should be clicked when it should be working, and that’s all it, my writing is not very good🚐👍🏿

That's one of the troubles with Californias, the door and canopy is on the wrong side for the UK. Others are top loading fridge instead of a proper easy access fridge, auxilliary heater controls in the cab instead of being next to the bed, where you want them and a narrow rock n roll style bed, instead of a better rib unit, with better storage access beneath, logistically better in use and more storage in the space behind the bed. No storage above the cooker / sink and no rear overhead storage either as well as being a short van not a long wheel base which gives you more space and better access to side cupboards. Mind you, you have got the fuzzy feeling of knowing you have a california badge on your camper van.

Having owned both a conversion and the California, there are definitely pros and cons with each. You make some good points about some of the design limitations. Thanks for sharing, cheers JT

Just for balance. The sliding door isn’t practically much of an issue and it’s on the 'right' side when travelling in Europe. The top loading fridge is more efficient, holds more than an equivalent front loader and is accessible when bed is in use. There is a remote for the heater so you can activate it from anywhere not just the bed. There is rear overhead storage in the Coast/Ocean and being a California there is huge amount of aftermarket shelves and accessories available.
