Hey Team,
With Tropical Storm Nicholas moving into Texas, we have decided to prep the park with the minimal requirements. Since the storm isn't projected to be a major event for our area, the rain and wind can still be a major factor. We are taking steps necessary to protect the park.
Join the team on site as we go through the steps.
Want to support the Channel?
We have setup an Amazon Wish-List with snacks, drinks and others supplies for viewers to send to the team at the water parks.
www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/18IM7UYYZS44W?ref_=wl_share
All items sent to ThePoolGuy will be shared with the parks maintenance team!

A simple overhand knot will hold two extension cords together and keep them from pulling apart. Just wrap one cord end once (or twice) around the other before plugging them into each other. Now when you pull, it actually draws the two ends of the cords more tightly together rather than apart.

Thank you pool guy and your team for all you do at the park. My family and I have enjoyed a summer of fun. Best after work get away. Kids loved it when I walked in the door and said get your trunks on. We're going to the park. Glad the storm didn't hit as bad as they thought out here. Hope to see a follow up video on how the park did. Did the floats fly away?

Good hack on the pump float, but I think I would add a piece of plastic tubing above the zip tye to keep it from moving up the shaft. Hope you guys and gals ride thru safe and sound!
@DocNo27

I was thinking the same - or enough zip ties to fill the gap to keep it from creeping!
@lorenzo42p
@lorenzo42p 2 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the zip tie will stay on its own. would be nice, cuz then it's adjustable. if it does move, the worst case is the float just moves up to the factory position. the way it looks, the pump doesn't turn off until the float reaches the bottom. by changing the level the float activates the pump, be aware, it can cause the pump to short-cycle.

Seeing this is “just” a tropical storm, tubes were left out and umbrellas left standing (but zip tied). I’m guessing those would be taken in with a hurricane? What other preps would there be for a hurricane? (Great channel, BTW)

Everything that could basically break or plow away would be removed Into restrooms, pools would be drained more than a foot, all water going into park would be shut off, all signage would be removed, canvases from shade structures would be removed.

@brodyschmidt4302
@brodyschmidt4302 2 жыл бұрын
Sumppumps are designed like that for a reason the bodies of them are cooled by the water so it doesnt overheat and fail putting a zip tie on them will not have it fully submerged in the water thus creating a higher chance of failure granted if you guys are expecting lots and lots of water to be in there it might not be an issue but just food for thought

Seeing as it's the last full weekend, would it be an option to deflate a portion of the tubes and just leave enough for the event? I'm guessing the tubes will get deflated anyway for the end of season.

Hey just for laughs, I know you have all the emergency power panels labelled as such but just for shits and giggles you can get RED receptacles that will identify an emergency source of power without question..... That and they are available in commercial and "hospital" grade.. Far superior to the residential grade junk you can get anywhere.
@joeythefoxxo

@joeythefoxxo

@@REWYRED Electrician. I’ve installed a couple red outlets for this exact reason (battery or generator backup). I’ve also dealt with the orange isolated ground receptacles in server rooms. A red GFCI would be nice for them since their pump house clearly has wet conditions and is partially exposed to weather, unless their breaker already covers that type of protection.
@REWYRED
@REWYRED 2 жыл бұрын
@@joeythefoxxo Hey right on! I am an electrician in a hospital and deal with these almost daily, both these and orange isolated outlets as well as isolated systems... Amazing how many people on staff that SHOULD know what red outlets mean do not have a clue🤷‍♂️ I agree with having a red GFCI here BUT, I'd only worry if it's being used to supply back up sump pumps, and it trips as we know can happen if something merely gets damp that it could knock out said pumps and now you run the risk of the room starting to flood..... Just my 2 cents though.
@joeythefoxxo
@joeythefoxxo 2 жыл бұрын
@@REWYRED That is very true. In that case that would be the time to mess with higher tolerance GFCI’s. It’s true that there is a risk for flooding should they trip, but if there’s a fault to make them trip, it’s better to at least have human life be safe. Plus with two different GFCI’s and two pumps it’s unlikely both would trip, I think. Also just wondering, you ever mess with the blue voltage suppression outlets? They’re just surge protector outlets with a fancy name. I know some hospitals use them.

For the filters, the check valve sometimes doesn't seat correctly, and over time the filter will drain back into the surge pit. Something for the attraction pumps. So, to save us work for restart, we just close the valves.

I'm only 2 mins into the video... I know it's cost, but wouldn't it be worth it to just drain the water from the pools and tanks, cancel the 1 corporate event (I'm sure they'd understand given the storm) and begin the closed season early? We all know climate change is a thing now, if you're a climate change denier or not, so, some "seasonal" operations may have to change. If I owned the park, that's what I'd do tbh. Hide everything away, drain the water, lock the doors and let nature have at it, then open the park if needed, within the time I have allowed (that's why I say possibly cancel the corporate higher) and let the off season begin. I dunno, perhaps I'm too much on the "prepare for the worst" side of things, but my life motto from my grandparents was "brace for the worst. Expect the worst and anything you get is just a bonus" and as a guy living with depression, honestly, life is better when you expect nothing, because anything you get seems amazing. Perhaps that's just me, but, yeah, im not in the water park industry, you can guess why based on my comment lol.
