Our last day in St. Croix is spent preparing for our 400 mile sail to Grenada. We get Jetty's health certificate from the vet, fuel/water up in Christiansted Harbor, Provision, and do some laundry. Our last long Caribbean sail for a while!

I commented in the past about your flag. I like to see how proud you both are. You should keep the old one, fold it up and place it in a nice box. Then list all the places it's been flown. Kind of like a keep sake memory. I know while traveling in other countries it's was hard to find a new one, but having a flag is better than no flag. The old one has lots of stories behind it. Now to create new ones. Safe travels and smooth sailing my friends.

I can understand how quickly flags will tatter quickly with the winds on the high seas. Thank you for being proud Americans! 🇺🇸 Happy that you found a new 🇺🇸! A dog won't eat if they are nervous. Offering Jetty a treat is like trying to reward her for being in that state of mind. Better to be calm and relaxed yourself and once Jetty is back to her normal self - offer her a treat! Reward her for being calm.

As a Marine I don't have a real problem with flying a "tattered" flag, however after seeing your old flag I believe your definition and my definition of "tattered" might be somewhat different. LOL Either way, fly her high and proud.

I am glad I did not ask about the Vice Grip Throttle many videos ago now this explains it. Interesting the sequence of videos I am sure it difficult to keep them sorted out sometimes. Do not worry anything you publish is entertaining. Sometimes I think the camera takes the fun out of life but that helps keeping you two on the go. Showing the dirty laundry the mess on board plus the food that ahh molded is all a part of life. This makes you guys more approachable and normal. It is one of those things that people forget traveling and sailing is not all Bikinis, Surf, Sand, and Shade there is real life involved. Aloha guys enjoy until the next time.

It's so great that you guys are sailing the lower caribbean islands. See there is so much to see other then the Bahamas Mon. And you are going to Granada. Try to get video of you guys mingling with the locals. This is always a great opportunity to show us all what life is like on the islands you visit. Wow so far so good. Billy and Sierra, we LOVE your videos and have watched them all through this one (almost caught up)! Just want to make you aware of one small thing... without fail, every time you start your engine and the alarm sounds, my sweet (not-skittish) cat named Stanley Bostitch wakes up and jumps from sleeping in my lap and runs to the other room in a panic. I totally get the nice video effect, but I’m guessing Stanley’s not the only fur baby watching. Again, we love you guys and love your videos. I’ll try to send you our pic with your shirt soon.

We used a in line water filter when taking on water at any marina. If your water tanks become comprised you'll start using one also. ♡

It’s ok to fly it tattered until you can replace it, BUT... you should always promptly replace it 🇺🇸😎 Go on amazon and keep 2 or three spares on board 🍻

14:37 The La Crema wines from napa are awesome...I live in the area so ..theres that...and trust me ...the stuff they sell at the grocery store is not what they sell at the tasting rooms around here... so during off season you should come to Napa and sample the gooooood stuff.

Glad you are proud Americans and even gave a thought about the condition of your flag...You are right....A tattered flag is disrespectful. Always carry a spare flags. If you pull it down at sunset, and up at sunrise it lasts longer.

I have seen big rocks painted red, white, and blue in a garden. I know what they represent. Paint your stars & stripes on a pillow case if you have to. Be proud !

Replying to your comment about flag display, always best to display the best. Perhaps plan ahead and have a few backup flags available when needed? Personally I do not fly a tattered flag, I am also not sitting on a sailboat.... :) I can run down to the quick stop and buy a flag for about $5.00 or go to a near by Lowes and get one that will last for a long time for around $25.00. I usually go to Lowes..... :)

Well Billy, you asked so here it is: In 1942 President Roosevelt signed into law "The Flag Code". Section 176 (k) of the code states: "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning". So I guess the decision on if it is still flyable and not disrespectful is up to you. The good news is that no one has been arrested for this yet. 😊

I am a proud American and a Disabled Veteran. When I see a tattered old flag. I stop and replace them with ones I keep with me at all times. However, as you stated, you are looking for one and that is fine. I say fly it until you can replace it. But if you have never heard it. KZfaq Johnny cash's song, "Ragged Ole Flag". It will tell you a story you wont soon forget.

Tattered is better than no flag it is done on many vessels that are not able to replace them because they are away from port for a long time.Safe sailing I hope you made it without any problems.

50 stars, faded blue field, 7 red stripes, 5 white white stripes with 1 tattered white stripe - flown off stern of boat - hey... looks good to me. This U. S. Flag is a weather-torn, time-tested flag showing it has been places, allbeit without holes from bullets or shells. Yeah, it's better to fly it than not. :¬) Webhead USA

Thank you for your respect for our flag or for that matter, any other country's flag. If you have a replacement, replace it. If you don't, keep flying it until you can get a replacement. The thing to do is have a spare. Please dispose of the old one correctly. Again, thank you, from a veteran. It is good to see young people that show concern and respect. Fair sailing. The tattered flag is definitely a no - no. Best not to fly if in bad condition condition as it shows disrespect. Can see both sides of the aisle, better a tattered flag and no flag! I'm very patriotic as you both are. No judgement! Love the 16 minute vacation, much appreciated!

The throttle assembly you have is a Morse/Teleflex . Because of the cost of parts for that unit you should try to fix what you have. Worst case repair ? Clean the shift arm and the end of the shaft with 3M grease and adhesive remover, see if you can install a new set screw to hold the throttle arm on, also use 5 min epoxy made for steel by Loctite..

Per American Legion flag etiquette, tattered or flags in disrepair should not be flown but replaced. Better to not fly a damage (disrepaired) flagg than fly it at all. You got your new flag, so good going.
