//FAQs??
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.
-What equipment do you use?

Tripod: amzn.to/2w4ReK8

Thank you so much! First I’d like to say that you taught me how to crochet. I was a real beginner when I started to the point I didn’t know how to hold a crochet needle! So you literally taught me everything! I’m still a beginner but thanks to you I have made quite a few blankets and I’m getting better with each one. I have struggled with making a perfect blanket border but after using your method my blanket edges actually look even and the border turned out beautiful. You really are an amazing teacher! I’m in the US and have watched many crochet channels but you are one of my favorites! Thank you thank you thank you! I can’t wait to see your next project 🧶

@@LataraRoseAwwww thank you for asking! Over the past 2 years I have made 8 blankets and countless dish cloths and hanging towel sets. I am currently working on a blanket for my sister using the forked cluster stitch from Bella's tutorial. It's really beautiful! Thank you again Bella. You really are the best! 🙌🏻 Now how about you? How's your crochet journey? Are you currently working on any projects? 🤩

I have been crocheting off/on for over 40 years. To be honest, no one ever "taught" me how to do a border along a raw edge. I got a lot of "advice" from other crocheters in my family on their way of doing it...which was completely different from each of them. Sometimes it worked on my projects and sometimes it was just "ok".... However, the way you showed how to go into stitches versus turning chains, etc.... This has really helped. Additionally, your reiteration about how we each may need to experiment with different methods, hooks, and such depending upon our tension and style were very comforting. I've saved this video to help me when I finish with a poncho I'm working on as a gift for my niece. Historically, I've kind of fumbled along on the blankets I've made for the home and my sons' flats, but this gift I'm working on I want to look a bit better....My sons don't really care how a border looks on their blankets and pillow covers..LOL! Thank you for everything you do! Hugs from Maryland!

You are such a blessing. My mom suggested your channel for my crochet journey and you have yet to disappoint! I began learning at the beginning of January 2023 and I am very close to completing my practice blanket , as I am calling it. I need to do something with the outside edges because they are not quite as straight as I would like, I assume my stich numbers are not equal in some rows 😁. This will surely help me get around and make a boarder to hide my inexperience 🤣🤣. Thank you for your very helpful videos! I can't wait to get into your videos deeper as I get more practice.

I really love the look of this stitch. I’m very much a novice crocheter, and I’ve just completed my first rather large blanket. x30 12” granny squares, in various shades, and patterns, of green and cream, to cover my king size bed. All joined up now and a border of double crochet, as you recommended. I’ve been long pondering what finishing border stitch to use to complete the project. I decided on doing a round of treble crochet in cream, and have done a small section along one edge, which looks fine. However, having watched this video, I thought I might experiment by adding this spider stitch, in one of the green shades, along the top of the cream treble stitches, hoping it would give it a really nice structured finish. Well I’ve tried it, and it works, and I like it a lot. So thanks very much for this, and all your wonderful creative tutorials.

So helpful. Thank you. I am not an experienced crocheted. I am making a sampler blanket at the moment and was worried about my lumpy sides. Thank you for sharing this clear tutorial. 😊

You’re welcome, I’m glad you’ve found it helpful! 😊 It’s totally normal for our crochet not to be completely even at the sides depending on the type of stitch you’ve used. You should find a border hides this and makes it a lot neater.

So I am doing a border on a multi colored blanket. I did a single crochet around it once and I could still see the other colors under the stitch. So I did a 2nd round of single crochet on top of, not into the first round and so far so good 👍. Its a basket weave stitch so I am hoping that they waves on the sides are because I am working into the sides of front & back post crochets and not because they are to tight or too many. Please let me know your thoughts on it!! Thank you for your fun & informative videos! ❤ I cant lie that I watch your videos because I love to hear you talk as much as I love learning from you!! LoL😂 thanks again!

Thank you so much! 😊 If you find your border is curling or rippling then it’s usually because there are too many stitches I’m afraid; however if it’s not too noticeable then this can sometimes be fixed by blocking. It can be difficult to completely cover up the stitches you’re working over with the border but once you’ve worked a few rounds you’ll find that they’re not as obvious 😊

@@bellacococrochet can u explain blocking to me? I was thinking about making an intentional ruffle border so that it will hide the ripples a bit more. I think the in addition to maybe having to many stitches that its wavy because its a basket weave stitch which as you know is all opposite double FPC & BPC. Thank you so much for your imput. I have been crocheting for about 2 yrs but I learn something new with every project I do. ❤️ I learned how to crochet from you and from Glenda Winkleman on the channel called Creative Grandma. Any & all advice is greatly appreciated 🥰🥰🥰

Great tutorial! Could you also show how to do edges for half-double crochet with increased stitches? I mean when doing for example triangle shape as for bikini or other works. It gets really tricky then and I couldn’t find any tutorial for that
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 If you’re working an edge around a triangle I would work into each stitch around, and then in the corners (or points of the triangle) I would work three stitches into one. Hope this helps.

@bellacococrochet On the last corner did you add the 3rd stitch and then slip stitch to the 1st stitch? Or omit the 3rd stitch and the slip stitch counts as your 3rd corner stitch? It looks like the latter, but I can't quite tell. Many thanks, been watching your tutorials for years! 🙏

Quick question. I have a panel of double crochets and I need to put in single crochets along the top. So on the first row I would do two scs and then I would put a stitch in each of the 3 turn chains and not skip anything. But I was inconsistent with turning so some of the chains are backwards. Am I supposed to force it to face foward so I can stitch it or just keep it backwards? And do I just hook on the top half of the chain or in the center which would give me two pieces on my hook?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 3 жыл бұрын
If you work through the centre of the chain, giving you two loops on the hook, this will make it more secure and less likely to stretch. But you can also work your stitch around the chain (instead of working into it) which means you won't have to worry about turning any of the stitches around 😊

Thank you for this video. Is it necessary to count the stitching on opposing sides? I simply have a hard time seeing open gaps on the raw edges for the Treble crochets (US Double crochet) No way to close those gaps huh?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 2 жыл бұрын
If you are wanting to work a border stitch that has to be worked over a certain multiple, it’s important to count the stitches on both sides to make sure you have the correct amount and that both sides match. If you work too many stitches then this can cause the sides to warp and become wavy, so it also helps us not to add more stitches than we should. Unfortunately, we can sometimes end up with small gaps, but these usually become less noticeable once you’ve worked more rounds 😊

I'm going to watch this a few more times before I attempt my first border, but I use alt turning chain rather than ch 3 any suggestions on how to go down the sides with those?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 8 ай бұрын
I would still work the same number of stitches as you would if you were working into the side of a chain three; just make sure you space them evenly 😊

i want to make a cardigan out of square pieces for a friend,, should i make this border stitch around each square before i put them all together?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet Жыл бұрын
Working a border around each square will make them look neater and easier to join, however it's not always necessary - if your squares are all granny squares for example, you should find that you can join them together without needing to work a border first 😊
