Awesome video. I grew up as a kid hating books, but as I go through young adulthood I find myself loving books again. While I don't do emergency nursing, pre-hospital knowledge is incredibly important in today's volatile world.

Great channel, thanks for all the info. Regarding wilderness medicine, I couldn't agree more, the WEMT course is valuable to all levels of providers going into remote settings. The NOLS course and book are both great but if you're looking for something more comprehensive or are an advanced provider looking for a RN/MD level wilderness text, Auerbach's Wilderness Medicine is the bible. If you dont need something that deep his abrigded Field Guide to Wilderness Medicine is perfect.

One of your best videos yet Sam!! Might I also recommend “Rapid Interpretation of EKGs” by Dr. Dale Dublin. Amazing book that breaks down reading EKGs, basic cardiology, physiology of the heart, ect. It was also easy to understand being only an EMT-B with no professional EKG training.

Thank you for putting out a good selection of reading material. I would like to take the first step in first aid training but don't know where to turn for practical implementation. Is there a course you would recommend, especially in Iowa that help practice some of the things you teach in videos?

Lmaooo. he barley described how to actually do or use any of what he mentions in that book, none of that is useful. Barley any of stuff in that book will ever be used by a SWAT/EMT member. Save your money.

I’m sure you can; you just have to get involved in civilian EMS and the local police department. There’s an Advanced Tactical Paramedic to National Registry Paramedic bridge course at many tech schools.

Soo there we are, I need some books and Movies, I am such a noob in this field ... Ok I will write down something someone notice a mistake correct me Please. I had a 1st Aid class 2 times, but I do not get it.... So there is an event and there are stupid people dying all over the place ... 1. I go and take look if someone needs Help Yes 2. I Call the Pros give them all infos Location, How many People, 1st OverView Problems, then I take advice or go on... 3. I do make this place save without moving someone. 4. I check who is in the most worse state and ready for threatment 5. I 1st Speak to them if not Offline, Ask them: Can Breath? Pain where? Numb-weird feeling where ? Feel Sleepy ? If I get an weird answer I know he is in shock or else I do check what he meant 6. If Offline - I check 1st for Pulse if not I do Head Back, Mouth Open, I start beating the heart 30 times and give 2-3 times O2 with my mouth or mask 7. I watch the cheast does move by giving O2 and get the ear over the mouth, if not moving no feeling or sound of breathing - Checking Mouth and Throat remove Objects with care, get the tongue in normal position by pulling it, checking for Cheast Sealing needs 8. Before I do go on with reanimation I do a quick Check for very massive bleeding needs to be stoped, then I do go on reanimation if not - till I got the pulse 9. after I got pulse I check breathing again, if not I double check mouth and pulse 10. When I got Pulse & Breathing - taking gloves I watch out for Bleeding - gloves touchy stripe spot blood - gloves touchy stripe spot blood.... without moving the person 11. When I find very massive bleeding like sprinkler or waterfall Leg/Foot/Arm/Hand - I do a swat T 5cm over the bleeding spot, if it does not stop another Cat above and beside the swat - if not I tighten the Cat when massive bleeding stops, then I do sterile get the blood a bit off by the middle to the outside - then wound pack with costant pressure and extra pressure for 5 min. if needed 12. When there is bleeding Leg/Foot/Arm/Hand/Head/ ?Torso? but NOT so massive like a sprinkler or waterfall - I start wound packing and keep pressure on, till it is packed I keep on pressing and put a jewish Bandage above tight but not too much, if still bleeding I do tighten the jewish bandage and press on for another 5 min. if still bleeding I get the Cat 5cm above the bleeding spot and it should stop. 13. When bleeding stops I do check again Pulse but where it should be and breathing 14. After bleeding stops I do also give that golden alu hat and a slap if not waken or wanna take a nap 15. If he is awake I ask him and tell him to stay awake and help is on the way 16. If something sticks somewhere in the body I do seal around that obejct but let it stick 17. If there is something out the body needs to be inside or a burning I do water a bandage and low pressure cover it 18. Ferrari Red Blood is Bad blood, BBQ dark red Blood is Good Blood ? 19. If I need to move him I do check by feeling neck and spine is OK 20. if breathing and pulse but still offline I do side stable embrio position with head up, mouth open and hand under the head 21. if there are very small bleeding I do a compress and bandage it not too tight So I do not know when there is coming blood out of the throat or getting too much into the throat, I do not know what to do when there is a massive bleeding wound on the scrag ? There can not be massive bleeding when there is no pulse so reanmation 1st then stop massive bleeding then check breathing and pulse again right ? Correct my mistakes. Thanks.
@maiky1295 жыл бұрын
you should not be checking the pulse if the patient is unconscious, you should be listening for ten seconds if they are breathing, if they are not breathing you start cpr in a 30:2 pattern.
@user-cp3ju2fz4z5 жыл бұрын
@@maiky129 OK Thanks so when someone is Offline, I will... check air way check breathing 10 sec. long chest movement and holding ear above the mouth when not 30 compression 2 times O2 checking breathing again going on...

@@maiky129 OK do not Stop CPR till breathing is there or Ambulance. But there are some things I do not understand... 1. when I do CPR and there is external massive bleeding I will pump out all the blood ? I do not fix that ? 2. When there is no breathing but there can be heart beat and a pulse right ? So I do CRP and compress the heart which is already doing the job ??? And Thanks for your Help, @@maiky129 \ - . - /
@maiky1295 жыл бұрын
@@user-cp3ju2fz4z you will most likely not find someone not breathing with a pulse, because when you stop breathing, the heart stops. Either way it's faster to listen for 10 seconds to breathing rather than trying to find a pulse, and it's more accurate. On number 2, it's more important to give cpr than to stop bleeding because they will die without cpr, and even if you fix the bleeding they will still die without cpr. If there is someone else there then they can stop the bleeding while you give cpr
