3 minutes without air is pretty critical. I was in a restaurant on July 4th with about 400 patrons and I choked on a piece of steak. At my table were my mother in law and niece who are both nurses but they are both about 5'2" and 110 pounds. They both attempted the Heimlich Maneuver but were unsuccessful. My 20 year old son stepped in with direction from the nurses and did his best but just broke 2 ribs. luckily an ER male nurse arrived at the restaurant as this was all happening and he was able to dislodge the blockage and save my life. Encourage your favorite restaurants to provide training to all of their male and female employees. The males need to be trained to help male customers...

You are more experienced than I am but you misspoke on the fire steel striking. To strike a fire steel you need a sharp edge. A broken piece of glass with a sharp edge will make sparks off a ferro rod /fire steel. A stainless steel knife with a sharp edge will strike a fire steel. One of the best strikes is the back of a Leatherman saw blade and those are stainless. You need a carbon steel knife to make sparks with flint or a hard rock. Flint and steel method. Great content keep it up!

That esee 4 can’t even strike a ferro rod how he was saying it doesn’t have a 90degree spine and it has the coating, his isn’t filed down either dudes just talking out of his butt

He does tend to hose up the semantics when discussing ferrocerium rods, and carbon steel strikers, and the like. To me, and every one that can use flint and steel, the term "fire steel" means the high carbon steel striker that you can strike with a rock, and remove material, to produce a relatively low temp spark. To him, it means any thing you can make a spark with. In this case, I think he just had a lot to talk about, and that's what came out. Thanks for pointing that out tho. I practice fire with nothing but a hardened steel striker. I can find anything else. My go to kit, when i'm not in a hurry, is the flint and steel kit, with some jute rope, bees wax, tin that can hold char. My favorite char is punky wood, I keep it in the tin, and hold the tinder above. When I get a flame, I just snuff it with the lid. No holes in my tin. works fine. I can also just add more punk crumbles at any time. Preferably right when i'm snuffing the latest ember. I've never run out of char that way. In the real serious kit, I do keep a lighter, ferro rod, dedicated striker, good matches, any number of fire starting cubes, tinder, and a good bit of fat wood. Also, magnifying glass, jute rope, and wax.

For the CAST for broken limbs, there is a soft aluminum formable splint… I would recommend that for an IFAK or Trauma kit. The cast materials is great, but I would hold that for General medical at home or base, the splint I was describing folds up is light weight takes up minimal space. IDEAL for your IFAK.
@majoroverkill1376

The SAM splint is a great item to have, super light weight aluminum, 36'' long and packs small. I have a few along with the SAM finger splints. Cat Tourniquet and Israeli bandage is a must in your IFAK along with compressed gauze and chest seals. In my opinion you can never have enough medical supplies. Something no one mentions is extra firearm parts as well. I carry every extra/replacement part for my side arms/Glocks because the parts are light weight and cheap and great insurance when SHTF.

I have a Schrade SCHF37. 7" 1095 blade. 90° spine. Sheath isn't the greatest but it's functional. Has a small pouch that holds the included sharpener and ferro rod. The knife is coated but is a smooth coating and does not interfere with striking a ferro rod. Handle works for all hand sizes and has a curve at the bottom to help lock you pinky in when using it to chop and a finger choil to help with the finer work like feathering sticks. It's my primary knife but i do keep a carbon steel morakniv knife in the bag. The schrade only costs between $40-$50. Take Care and Be Aware.

AMMO: I recommend the MINIMUM 1000 rnds also. But if you have 4 AR15’s in 5.56 w 4 shooters to use those I would say 1000 rnds per GUN! 4 shooters all using 9 mm need there own ammo, etc. So not just per caliber but also per gun used in that caliber makes it a safer bet!! There’s never ENOUGH ammo but a healthy minimum is the initial goal!

Like I said do your research. What is commonly known as a FARADAY CAGE is a wire mesh enclosure. But the width of the gap in the mesh and the mesh material determines the “wave length” that it is EFFECTIVE for. Some only keep out radio waves some only work with certain frequencies of waves, etc. Probably the most effective would be a solid metal enclosure, but DO YOUR RESEARCH on this.

The cheaper blue, brown, silver tarps you find at Harbor Freight are literally the SAME quality as you would find at Home Depot/Lowe’s!! Maybe different brands but the SAME quality! It’s when you start looking for heavier mil thickness or canvas or other material tarps that things start to diversify somewhat. But a standard 5x8 blue tarp from Harbor Freight IS the same as one from Home Depot or Lowe’s or most anywhere else!

MOST IMPORTANT about sharping knives is NOT the sharpener itself as much as the ANGLE you use. Yes a quality stone or sharpener is relevant! But if you DON’T get and KEEP the correct ANGLE you’ll NEVER get it sharp PERIOD! There are different angle degrees for different knife types as well. 25 or 30 degrees normally works well for most. Just look it up if not sure. A pocket/field knife is normally different from Chef’s or kitchen knives.
