Prepping a Vintage VW Beetle for Polyester Primer | Sarah-N-Tuned Beetle Give-Away

With the give-away fast approaching, Sarah needs a little help from Fred, Angel & Reid to get her vintage beetle ready in primer and ready for it's custom paint job. The team does all the bodywork so Fred can shoot 3 coats of high build polyester primer before wheeling it back over to Sarah's shop.

I couldn’t hand pick a nicer bunch of guys to share a building with Sarah A great match Epic standards all round My late Dad was a mechanic RAF trained , also specialised in body repair / welding / spray painting to an unbelievable standard too Wet and dry sanding 🙈 did my car once , first car an Austin-Healey , 14 coats all in , I thought he would never stop prepping 🥵 Stopped this watch to subscribe 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😎

👍👌👏 Very well done again! I love spray painting but I definitely hate doing the preparation work, especially sanding sometimes a lot of times. Kudos for being so patient and disciplined. No matter what you're painting (car, truck, your bedroom, etc.) actually applying paint to the surface is the reward for the hours of prep work you have to do.

As a side note, I was a huge user of the Auto Hobby Shop on every base that I was ever stationed on. It was always a confidence builder knowing that the AHS staff were there to provide back-up when getting into a tight jam. Y'all have a great business model.

do you need to treat the VW after Body filler & sanding, before laying down primer? Do you need Tack rags, or even just blowing off with compressed air? Seems like sanding dust residue would mess with the primer.

Back when all season tires were crap, the Beetle and Corvair had the weight of the engine over the drive wheel and were cheap, so you could get by without winter tires, if you could live with the poor heating and defrost for the interior. Also, parts and labor were cheap, even though the air cooled engine life was not very long.

I've done body work & paint. It's NOT easy by no means. Damn hard work really. Hope that Sarah is ok. You can delete that uh, music though. Hey, put some cool pinstriping on the primer then shoot it with some clear coat and there you go.

"Sarah-N-Tuned" channel covers that. She typically has several project cars in stages of restoration and tweaking, does troubleshooting and explains, serious wrenching and DETAILED detail work because she has a deep loathing for half-assing stuff. She also does some new car reviews on that channel including putting them on her lift and discussing what we're seeing. More new car reviews on "Give It The Beans" channel. Her waking hours are pretty much all work. Her main shop is another section of the same building.

Doctor told him to give up wrenching and bending his back. Spine deteriorating and becoming arthritic at age 33. Not happy. I hope he can direct others to do the physical stuff.
