One tip I learned about tasting while you're cooking so you don't have to keep getting a clean spoon is to use your large stirring utensil to drop some sauce etc. onto your "tasting" spoon. That way you can just keep using the same small spoon to taste for seasoning. Not sure if how I worded it makes sense?

I have a tip for getting rid of the smell of old jar lids that Becky's mom mentioned. It's a bit of a process but after washing, let them air dry for a few days, then put coffee grounds in a jar and screw the lid, after a few days take it off and air dry again. It'll smell a bit like coffee but won't impart a flavor to whatever you wanna store in the jars

Hi Becky! t's been disproven that salting beans makes them take longer to cook. Epicurious among others tested it both ways. I now salt not only when cooking, but also when soaking. They cook up fine and taste better, for the same reason that pasta tastes better when you salt the cooking water.

Oh! I just love the videos with your beloved Mummy!! 🤗 (and your MIL too! She’s also fantastic!) And yes Mummy’s totally right regarding freezing your garlic. It’s the best way to preserve your harvest, for when using fresh has passed it’s time. Don’t even bother to peel them, just split the bulb into individual cloves, and put them in a zip lock bag & into the freezer. Then you have home grown garlic to use as needed, all year round. It keeps perfectly, you’d never know the difference between fresh and frozen/thawed use in cooking. Keep up the great work ladies! Another excellent video ❤️

I recently had my son order a spice rack for me with 72 bottles (over 300 pre-printed labels). I had my spices in an upper cabinet but it is no longer safe for me to climb the step stool to reach them. The rack I ordered sits against the wall on my countertop. It could also be mounted to the wall. The manufacturer is Swommoly. There are smaller sizes/fewer bottles. It fit perfectly between my upper and lower cabinets and I arranged the bottles alphabetically for convenience. I love it! I didn't have drawer space to hold spices. I do have large bottles/jars in a cabinet. You may want to check these out. I do have about 24 bottles of the 72 still empty... room to expand!

If you haven’t tried making lasagna with a garlic beschamel sauce you should. It’s a game changer. Love it when you do co-cooking with relatives and the stories are adorable

Becky, when you scrape food off of a cutting board, do it with the backside of your knife so you don't dull the blade.

I must say, the sister's ceasar salad looked really good too. I'm making that this week for sure! What a blessed family and super mum they have.

I love your videos with your mum and mother in law in them. They are such sweet, beautiful ladies. I would have loved to have had a close family that was so supportive of me. My mother doesnt want anything to do with me or her grandkids so its really heartwarming to watch what family should look and feel like. Another great video thanks Becky - you are such a beautiful, kind, and funny person. Would have loved to have you as a friend growing up :) xx

Becky I love your videos, but I absolutely adore the ones with your mom!!! it's so lovely to see you 2, the interaction between you two, and how open she is. there is one thing that I don't understand... how is it that all of your family are not 200 kg each with you and your mom cooking like that?!?!!?!?! lots of love from Israel

With all the chaos and sadness in the world right now it is so delightful and refreshing to see Acre Homestead pop up with a new video!!! Becky you have been blessed with a gift that draws people to you! We love your cooking, prepping meals, preserving and gardening all the things we're learning but...honestly most of it's just you! I'm 68 and I get so much joy and pleasure watching your videos! I found your channel about 9 months ago and subscribed right then and have been so excited but not surprised to watch your numbers soar and I've shared to several friends! Thank you for bringing back what so many of us had growing up...it's so beautiful to see a young person with a passion for food something we all need to survive but I think your bringing families back together at the dinner table!! Much love and blessings to you and your adorable family!😊🙏❤

Another wonderful time being with you, your parents, and a joyful time of good food…though trying not to be envious! Thank you for letting us join in as you gather together! Gale Flowers 🌸 oh, seeing your broken mason jar and your eyes of “here we go again” put a smile on my face and in my heart; it’s good to know we don’t struggle alone! Your reaction was great; I did wonder if you had had enough coffee to begin the session of cooking! 😂

Becky you inspire!!! Tip: instead of getting a new spoon everything you need to taste, just drip from the stirring spoon onto you tasting spoon. No double dipping and less mess 😄 You have a lovely family! 🥰

I have just discovered your channel and I love your energy. Some channels take 40 minutes for 20 minutes of content. Yours are to the point. Right now watching your Thanksgiving cooking with your Mom. I am thoroughly enjoying your videos!

QVC has the square sealable containers, they're called "Lock-N-Lock" brand. They are fantastic for dry good storage, but also for packing food in a cooler. Nothing can leak in or out!

Love this video and watching you and your mom cooking together. You work so well together! One tip for your knife that I noticed, if you use your knife to scrape ingredients into the pot make sure to use the blunt end, not the blade…it’s my understanding that using the blade to scrape damages the edge. I love that your dad helps out! I’m working on training my husband to do that!
