More about me:
When I was 20 years old, I dropped out of college and said to myself that I will do what I really want and what I see meaning in. So I decided to build my dream log cabin, all by myself, in the middle of an off-grid bush.
After I left school, I went to work for a while to earn money for trees and hand tools. I spent all the money I earned and my savings on it. Thank God, I already owned the land I have - I got it from my dear parents as a gift and I also bought another part of the land with my own money.
I chose a log cabin for my home because I like it. I build it with the vision of living a simple and peaceful life in it. Having time is more important to me than having money. Of course, nowadays a person cannot live without money, but I would like to live in such a way that my expenses are not so high and thus reduce the need for money. I want to have time not only for myself, but also for my future wife and children. That's why I will try to build the most self-sufficient life possible, in which my own housing, in my case a log cabin, will be the heart of this system.
I chose the traditional method of building - using only hand tools because they are my favorite. There is beauty in simplicity.
Working with hand tools has several advantages: You are able to work off-grid, the entire set of tools you need can fit in one bag, there is better safety when you work alone, you don´t make too much noise when you´re working... so I enjoy it more and I believe you will too, while watching :)
My dear father is a carpenter. I remember that most of the things he taught me while working with wood were precisely while working with hand tools, which required the most attention and practice from me.
My father taught me how to work with wood from a young age, but I have no experience with building a log cabin, so I'm learning everything as I go, and I'm looking forward to what this experience will teach me.
It may not seem like it, but it was a big struggle to get this opportunity to be able to work on my dream, but I finally did it and for that I am incredibly grateful. I also started this KZfaq channel where I share my entire journey, so if you are interested, you can check it out. There is no one behind the camera, so I do all the filming and editing myself. I would also be very grateful if you would support my journey by subscribing or sharing, if you want to.
Thank you for being here, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you're watching. I will try to make videos as best as I can, so that you get the greatest enjoyment from them.
Thank you all for your attention. Enjoy!

I see we have similar feelings about life in general. Yearning to do something worthwhile that might make a difference. We both decided to follow our dreams. At 67yrs old I can say I did just that. I enjoy watching others now doing what you and I made as our personal journey's. Your path is different in some ways from mine but the motivation at the very core is the same. ..... I chanced upon your channel at video #7 and was very impressed with what i saw. Now back at video #1 I am subscribed. I usually don't comment unless my heart leads me. Very pleased that you have taken the time, made the effort, to upload and share with us, your viewers, a true down to earth portion of your very life. This takes guts!! And I thank you. You remind me of the Stockholm carpenter Erik Grankvist (20 years old at the time). He spent two years building a log cabin in a forest in Sweden alone using traditional tools and muscle power. I have full respect for you too!😊

I just watched a gentleman build 2 log cabins by his self the first one he had to move from because he was too close to people and the second one is humongous and he built it all by himself a total of, I think two years. good luck I hope you look him up if you have any questions Shawn James I thinks his name in Canada. 👍 🙏❤️🙏

After stumbling upon the 11th episode and watching it all the way through, I now want to see it all from the beginning. The dedication and skill with which you do such complex work are incredible. What I can best understand is the seclusion and loneliness in which you live and work. I also love being alone and doing everything on my own. Thanks for the great videos. Greetings from far Germany. Liked and subscribed.

I just stumbled across your channel and immediately started on your first video. Ive watched Dick Prenneke's documentary probably 100 times as well as read the books. I WILL eventually find the right piece of remote land and do exactly what you are doing here with your channel (although I need to finish my stick frame off grid cabin first haha). Its been a dream of mine for a long long time. I look forward to watching all your content.

Thank you for your comment. I want to build the entire log cabin by hand because I love the beauty of hand tools and enjoy working with them. At the same time, if you have quality hand tools, it doesn't even take as much longer as one might think. For example, a hand saw cuts very quickly when it's sharp 🙂 And I also like that hand tools are not so loud, so I can listen to the sound of nature in the meantime. 😃

Bonjour Matthias i've watched your saw horse vidéo several times. what are the dimensions of the saw horse, height, length of leg ? what angle did you cut the notches for the main support , 30° 17° ? you have a great work ethic. who are you building the house for ? if you have a girlfriend, don't be ashamed to share this dream with her if you plan to live there with her. you'll get more views... be safe please
