Water in the conduit? Translation: make certain that whatever you run through the conduit is water proof because the people who run the conduit may be too lazy to properly glue the conduit together so that it is water proof and/or bedding it so that ground shifting will not break the conduit.

You guys should consider using gas and O2 detectors, you’d be surprised how many manholes have lower O2, that’s a killer.

Exactly. Real bad deal with that manhole. No gas test to check that it's safe to enter. No ladder to quickly get people in or out. No rescue system to pull someone out if they get in trouble. No ventilation blower set up to get fresh air if needed. Perfect setup for some totally preventable fatalities. Eventually luck will run out.

Did a ton of cable pulling in the past, back when we had to pull in Cat-3 25 pair copper to MDF's and IDF's. I've worked through the transition from old X/Y stepper switch telecom systems to multi-mode fiber and VOIP. So I know your dilemma well.
@lifeasweknowit52802 ай бұрын
Awesome, I’ve only handled fiber.
@merlepatterson2 ай бұрын
@@lifeasweknowit5280 I have a feeling that with satellite technology (think Starlink) and wireless advancements, even fiber may become as outdated as copper? I know being an old-school PBX programmer/Copper tech from the past, the data networking teams quickly eliminated my job when everything went over to cloud servers from internal private business exchanges.

You guys do great work! You definitely want to transition to becoming the service provider, owning the customer, and earning recurring monthly revenue. Best business model. Apart from operating an ISP, I assist new service providers with getting their network designed, edge routing setup using juniper devices, and making sure they have a solid plan to scale/grow. We should talk sometime. Continue the kick ass work my friend.

Was fiber certified years ago. Was that a fox and hound you were using and we never pulled fiber. We would blow it with nitrogen. A bottle will blow about 1000 ft. If you need it longer you still will blow it 1000ft at a time and figure 8 it for the next section. If the fiber is pulled, it will internally break. Are you maybe pulling mult?
@lifeasweknowit52802 ай бұрын
To be honest with you I’m not sure what a fox and hound is? Lol. I’ve pulled a lot of fiber and haven’t had it break internally. I think fiber technology has come a long way. We have blown Fiber too, it’s a lot less work if the conduit good.
