Heading into my first year as lead teacher after being an assistant for 8.5 years. I've been slowly working on things since June and it has paid off. I spent a few partial days just going through resources in the classroom and getting rid of things I know we hadn't used in years (my previous lead teacher saved EVERYTHING). We have a mix of 3-5 year olds for 6 hours a day (new to our classroom this year). I am excited for a new beginning and making it my own classroom. We do similar with pictures and/or names on many things around the classroom. I am amazed at how far these little ones come in a year or even a few months. We had a new 3 year-old writing her name in less than 2 months of being in our class. Thank you for your inspiration.

Thank you so much! I think you are going to find that teaching the older kids is a bit easier than the toddlers. My teacher BFF is a 2-3 teacher and I see what she has to do everyday...I don't think I could do it! They can do so much more than your littles, and are more independent. I LOVE Pre-K so much! If I had to choose just one...it would be Pre-K. Best of luck!

Hi Diane Again your refresh has been very helpful. I'm working on my lists. 2 areas I'm focusing on. 1) organizing for my desk supplies because I have a really small desk and last year it was a hot mess all year. The 2) one is different for me this year. I've been going through my closet to make sure all of my clothes fit and in good shape, then shopping if I find holes I need to replace.I'm feeling a lot less stress getting these things started, as you said. That is a great idea! I'm afraid to try mine on...ice cream has been my friend this hot summer! As for desks...I have the tiniest desk in the whole world! I had to get a drawer unit to put under mine because it was only a 24 x 24 counter attached to a corner in my room...no kidding! For a computer and everything. I despise that thing...but whatcha gonna do? BEst of luck...enjoy your Summer too!

Do you like having two separate classes? I wonder if I'd like that. I have the same students the whole year everyday!

Hi Amy..yes, I do have 2 separate classes. I have a 3-4 Preschool class that comes in the morning M-H, and a 4-5 PreK class that comes in the afternoons M-H, and on Friday mornings. It's all I know, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I like having a break between classes and being able to differentiate activities.
