Preschool Curriculum Review || What I should have done to save time and money!

Hi everyone, today I thought I would share what we used for homeschool preschool curriculum. Many of these things were not so great, but in the end we found that absolute best homeschool preschool curriculum for our family. It is open and go , simple and challenging with minimal writing! Hopefully this video will help you save time and money on your preschool curriculum. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

This is perfect! I have 4 years old daughter who will be homeschooling this year and I was looking for preschool workbooks that require less writing. It seems like she would enjoy those activity books. I already put them in my shopping cart! can't wait to try them for her!

hi. great video. have you ever evaluated any of the preschool curriculums like teaching mama, or two motivated moms or busy toddler playing preschool? so many out there but very expensive and need to be able to print hundreds of pages. I love it you condensed it to three good books.

I didn't know about the activity book! It looks amazing. I have a 4 year old going on (5 in November); should I bother getting the Activity 1 book? Or just skip on to Activity 2?

Oh awesome! I would say most of the content of it isn't very hard, it is the comprehension skills that are a little trickier in the first book. I would say if your kid knows colors, shapes, 5 senses, can do basic sequencing, basic paterns, follows directions and listens well to stories I would skip it. However if you don't mind extra practice and reinforcement my kids absolutely love doing the activities. My daughter is going through it now and my son always redoes the activities once she is done because he enjoys it. He is 5 now.

Annalisa B thank you for watching! We are currently in the beginning of our kindergarten year so I am not sure I could give that detailed of a review yet. You would just like a review of that book? Or the whole kindergarten starter set from core knowledge?

Hey I am so sorry I don't know how I missed this comment. Unfortunately they only offer activity books for preschool. They offer other great materials that I did purchase but it is a lot more of just resources that coincide with their scope and sequence for kindergarten. For example they have a poetry book, classical music cd, art resource cards, a big teachers manual, worksheets and text resources. I did buy that set so if you are still interested I can make a video for you. :)

With the Activity book, are the stickers in the back of the book or in a separate book/pack?

Danielle Greer the stickers and cutouts are at the back of the book. And I think amazon still has these out of stock but core knowledges website still has them available.

So I have a question, when in the year do you actually start a curriculum? Is there a certain point in the year you'll start one of these books? Maybe go with the normal school year. I am always lost on when to start and get overwhelmed. I have ADHD so personally being a little more scheduled is better for me but I'm not strict, I just need to know a good time to start one of those with my 4 year old haha.

How can I help my child hold his pencil correctly? Does it matter?

great question! So for my kids I would not worry about pencil grip while coloring or anything not really school related. However I would gently try to position the pencil in their hand before doing "school" work. One reason I really like the core knowledge preschool workbooks though is the limited writing. I am not a big fan in general of preschool age kids writing/ tracing a ton. I think there are a lot more fun ways they can build up fine motor skills. So I guess in my opinion I don't think it really matters for young kids but it doesn't hurt to casually show them the correct way to hold a pencil before you start. Just make sure you are using thinker pencils/crayons if you are worried about it they make pencil grips for easier finger placement. I hope that helps!

I haven’t used the free curriculum, but I have heard it is very similar. It will just take more work cutting and setting up and printing things. I believe also the lessons are longer in the online curriculum. Either one is a great choice! I hope that helps.

Hi, does this curriculum contain good base for maths as well?

Yes, I think so! It covers counting, shapes, patterns, basic addition and subtraction. We enjoyed it. It was all with the provided stickers and cutouts so my son really enjoyed it.
