This is a great course. Thanks to Neil and Sian and ALL staffs for creating the BBC Learning English. From Japan.Thank you. I wanted to know earlier. I do it every day from today. (Actually,I found this course when I saw a video uploaded 3 years ago "Theresa May set to become the next prime minister." for the first time today. Good luck to all of you in the UK.)

Is this correct Linda bought me a watch yesterday.(change to passive) -----A watch was bought (to/ for)? me yesterday by Linda.( 2nd object) ------- I was bought a watch yesterday by Linda. (1st object)
@bbclearningenglish4 жыл бұрын
Yes, both of those examples are passive and are grammatically correct. Good job! For your first example, we'd say 'for' me. We buy a gift 'for' someone and then give it 'to' them. 😃

Can an imperative have a Passive voice? e. g. Shut the door. I have come across Passive forms of this, such as : 1) Let the door be shut. 2) You are ordered/ instructed to shut the door. But these so not seem correct.

You forgot to say that a passive sentence is only possible when the verb is transitive.
