Enfleurage is an ancient perfume extraction technique that involves capturing the aromatic compounds of flowers in a solid fat or oil. The process typically uses odorless fats, such as animal tallow or vegetable oils, which act as a medium to absorb the fragrance. Flower petals are placed on the fat, and over time, the aromatic molecules are absorbed into the fat, resulting in a scented product known as a pomade.
