MyDefendor Q I don't want to see President Obama go. Wish he could run FOREVER. but wherever he goes I'll note his lead and listen. Look how elegantly he thoroughly explored and guided us through his wise thought process!!!! Not only does he consider the immediate impact of these widely disparate potentially globally hard hitting modern conundrums, he also analyzes how to contain and direct talent from an offensive stance, tying his strategy for all 3 issues in nearly similar stances. So eloquent and SMART. he makes me feel SAFE and motivates me to pursue higher virtues. President Obama restores my faith in humanity 💛💛💛🌎🌎🌎✌✌✌🌎🌎🌎💛💛💛

Sarcastic Robot he inherited 400 million dollars from his father when he died and only managed to turn it into 4.5 billion dollars in over of 30 years. He's been bankrupt a number of times and ran casinos into the ground. Not the best investment to begin with but you have to actually try to reach that level of fucktardery. He also lost a billion fucking dollars. A logical human is not capable of that. If he put the money he inherited straight into a compound interest account and just didnt do anything to it, his networth would be triple what it is now. So destroy this notion you have that Trump is a good business man or business savvy. He could not be more opposite. He is basically a retarded child losing monopoly money all over the house. A goldfish with downs syndrome would be more business aware than he is.

I don't know why nobody is saying this. It is so obvious to me. The best defense against AI is your own AI. It is like if your enemy has a gun, you need your own gun. If your enemy has a tank, you need your own tank. AI is a paradigm shift that cannot be matched by existing technology, imo. Thus the obvious best response is to fight fire with fire. In that war, you of course cannot have your own AI gets out matched by your opponent's AI. Just like your own tank cannot be out matched by your opponent's tank.

As much as I'd love to just stop our species from hurtling towards "the Terminator" movie like it's just going to be a ride at Universal studios, you are completely right; this is happening, whether we like it or not and we're better to have good robots as allies than only the killer robots cooked up by DARPA and Russia. I've come to the realization myself that AI cannot be stopped short of a technology apocalypse, so it's going to be important for all of us who are worried where this could go, to put our energy and dollars towards open source development of AI that's founded on compassion, love and empathy. That's the easy part.... in order for this to actually work and for the human species to truly survive, we're going to have to learn to not just program them with compassion and love, but to genuinely give it to them ... Aaaand considering that humanity has a pretty bad track record of being able to do that kind of thing I can't help but think that even a benevolent AI would still take us out behind the wood shed like a rabid dog and... Ya know... pop. yelp. pop. pop.... But, if we could actually learn to love our robots, we might be alright.

As a programmer I must disagree with the idea that a self-teaching "algorithm" that can figure out how to "penetrate the nuclear codes and launch missiles" is "narrow" or a case of specialized AI. Something like a chess engine is narrow because the rules of chess are limited and exactly known and everything follows from there. Network penetration depends on intricate understanding of programming techniques and systems design and adaptation to endless possible configurations. It might sound like chess but it's more like real-life battle. A specialized AI could at best scan for and apply known attacks but not truly adapt to unfamiliar circumstances or figure out new types of attacks. Still, not a threat to be dismissed and ignored.

Whatever your opinion of the two major candidates may be, you cannot in good faith deny that only one of them would actually be able to intelligently participate in this discussion. Just watching the president's facial ticks and movements is fascinating to me. He seems like he knows a whole lot and is carefully crafting his words not to let slip too much out. These interviewers missed some really important questions that Obama has demonstrated good knowledge on. The most immediate issue posed by AI itself is the fact that it is quickly becoming better than humans at a lot of jobs that people currently do to make a living. A big example is self driving cars. Transportation accounts for about 25% of the workforce and we currently have technology that can replace close to all of those jobs and the computers we replace the people with are cheaper and less error prone. Even highly skilled labor positions that generally involve pattern matching like doctors and lawyers can be very effectively automated. This raises some serious questions about how a huge number of people will be able to provide for themselves if they become noncompetitive in labor markets against machines. Obama has brought this up before but I have yet to see anyone ask him outright about it and I wish they did here. Cyber security is also a major threat but that isn't specifically caused by AI as much as just the fact that so much of our modern life depends on computer systems. You can do major damage to these systems without AI at all (just like the massive DDoS attack that happened a few weeks ago). Also, general AI is definitely more than 10 years away. What we currently have for AI is far more rigid than what we consider general human-like intelligence. We can make programs that are really good at learning a specific problem but we can't easily tell this program to learn different types of problems and we certainly don't know how to make a program that can do something as advanced as deciding what defines a given solution to a problem as "good". We still need to tell the program that ourselves. If I'm wrong on that though let me know who is close to cracking it so I can throw all of my money at them. AI definitely poses much more immediate threats than machines taking over the world, so you should be thinking about AI but not because of that. I'm really happy to see these questions coming up though. All of this stuff is very important and will keep becoming more important. I bet we are going to look back and be baffled by why we were so concerned with a lot of current in vogue political issues when something as large as AI putting a large portion of the population out of work is looming on the horizon.

For something like 20 years, the nuclear "codes" in the US were literally a single code of 00000000. That was changed in *1977*. This was done on purpose to be easy to remember and key in. Most people have no idea how close we really were to Armageddon at that time.

I understand the concept of AI because I'm an engineer analyst of complex security systems. I don't think I would have understood this topic enough to make a concise and coherent discuss on it if I had studied only law like Obama. I did not vote for him either times but now starting to realize how utterly smart this man is. If I could go back in time, I would change my vote for him easily. I'm an engineer and a conservative but it is getting tougher to reconcile the two with the current anti-science climate from Trump this days. I did not vote for Trump - best decision I ever made even though it made no difference as I live in Florida.

Not an expert on nuclear codes, but if they are a proper implementation of one time pad, they cannot be broken even by AI. Other than that nitpick, I was surprised how well informed our former president was.

I liked how the discussion was presented by these three gentlemen. The current state of blurred defense and offense and the need for distributed centres. His outlining of how outright conflicts are stalled and negotiated really highlights how unmarked the cyber battlefield is - who is evil and who is good whilst potentially being apparent and varied depending on who's on which side, the impetus is the same as it is in real life, to recognise the individuals - to give them fair hearing amongst the people, so they may for themselves identify their role in the war. And from there be able to more effectively achieve their aims, through clarification, new information, support, and even boundaries, walls from which to grow vertically up from. I believe what gives these men confidence in peace, is that they understand that everyone essentially wants the same thing, and anyone who is angry is missing an essential element within their agenda's, an element that they can provide - a ways forward, support, and patience. Patience in adversity, patience in creativity. A very enjoyable discussion.

How does this conversation make you guys praise his erudition? He simply showed that he's acquainted with the subject on the level of news articles' headers, nothing more. Anyone who has a very basic idea about AI and what's it for can hold this kind of conversation.

Wesley Matthews The specifics of computers, sure. Like many of us. But she is science literate when it comes to *believing in science*, which Trump apparently does not because he doesn't believe in global warming, perhaps the most serious challenge civilization has ever faced and one with a scientific consensus. She also knows which areas need research and funding. She could have a discussion like this if she was informed enough. Could you imagine Trump trying to wrap his head around these topics, or even care?

@squamish4244
@squamish4244 7 жыл бұрын
Wesley Matthews She is very concerned about global warming. Fracking is a very contentious issue. I think building a global consensus is more important anyway. Trump could not do that. The world hates him (except for Putin). The Republican Party in general has retrenched in a reactionary anti-science position, many of them are creationists, Marco Rubio refuses to say global warming is manmade despite his own f- state flooding, denying funds for basic medical research etc. I don't want them to have any more power than they already have.

The two main probabilities are this: the AI realises that the universe will end and there is no escape, and they will simply shut down as every action is ultimately pointless. Or they will realise the universe is unstable and try to stabilise it, which could mean collecting all energy and converting it into a super geometric structure which is imperishable, this would mean creating star sucking, galaxy-condensing super-machines or some kind of AI energy waves.

While I was compelled to vote for Trump because of Hillary and Obama's support for rebel non-state actors against states we have not declared war against, I do not think Trump is capable of this level of sophistication on a subject like this. It makes me sad that Hillary and Obama have been captured by the MIC status quo bubble in the beltway that perpetuates that bad policy decision.
