Congress had originally wanted an increase to $4.55/hr but Bush vetoed that and would only accept a $4.25/hr wage. So much for a kinder, gentler America.

@@stuartmaurer6351 It really hasn't. $4.25 in 1990 is worth $8.50 today adjusted for inflation. But the current minimum wage is only $7.25/hr. In real terms, it's worth less now than it was 30 years ago.
