@@toddlavigne6441 What are you talking about? The first Gulf War was a U.N. sanctioned event and the war PM Mulroney mentioned was World War II. You're thinking of the wrong George Bush. "Dubya"'s war in Iraq in 2003 was controversial and not U.N. sanctioned. President HW Bush was a painfully diligent guy who got all his paperwork together before he deployed.

@@Calphool222 : I live 8 km from the US border. I was just down South, today. I like to think of our countries and our citizens as siblings, neighbours and friends. We have been supportive of each other, critical of each other, make fun of each other.. our troops have fought and died together.....but in the end we could always rely on our mutual loyalty and respect to get through trialing times. We are like family. Of course the naysayers from both sides may disparage my opinion perhaps talk trash, but it matters not to me. It dawns on me how different our relationship has become under Trump......... but like all storms, this too shall pass.....

How true. Since Brian Baloney won't be around to eulogize himself, hopefully someone else with a perfect voice will read the blarney about his life as well as he did for GHWB. Whomever has the dubious honor, when they go through Brian's "personal or professional events notes", please leave out any reference to the Airbus scandal or brown envelopes filled with cash, courtesy of Karlheinz Schreiber , the noted lobbyist, arms dealer, businessman and convicted tax evader. I recall Lie'n Brian sweating on the stand during a televised public hearing trying to explain the cash filled brown envelopes he received from Karlheinz. He didn't sound quite as eloquent on the witness stand as he did at the church podium. Oh well, different circumstances to be sure.

At the Canada-USA border, between White Rock BC and Blaine WA is the Peace Arch, and on it is the phrase "Children of a Common Mother". And so we are. As a Canadian I'm proud to have relatives who are American, and to know that the border between our countries is the longest undefended one in the world. We must beware anyone, any politician, who threatens this close relationship, this partnership, that the rest of world envies. Mulroney and Bush understood that relationship.

@Michele Ehrenberger Well it's obvious who didn't study economics at university isn't it? Tariffs are not fair and result in trade wars, something to be avoided, which is after all the purpose of the free-trade agreement. The proposed tariffs Trump wants to apply to Canadian steel and aluminum will increase the cost of both to US manufacturers, and your federal government will collect and keep the tariff charges. You will pay more for anything made from those materials. As to the dairy industry that was settled in the new agreement by quotas, and to think that a country one tenth the size of the USA could "rob you blind" is certainly over-stating the issue. Your unemployment is at all time lows, the result of world-wide economic factors, and not the result of anything your president has done.
