Jazakallah Sheikh. I have been following your teachings all the way from Kampala, Uganda, you've been a source of illumination for me in times of doubt and frustration. May Allah be pleased with you.

"What are you submitting to if you decide what it is?" An absolutely profound thought by Sh. Hamza. Hopefully upon deeper reflection, people will understand that if the individual gets to decide everything, then the hard reality is: that he is submitting to nothing except his own ego / mind.

Shaykh Hamza - thank you for this series. You mention that you are not qualified to translate the quran. As humble as this may be i would argue that its not whether you feel you are qualified, but rather if you are MORE qualified than the others who have taken on this task in the past. I believe you would be qualified given your firm grasp of both english and arabic, along with your knowledge of the dean. It is definitely a weighty task as you mentioned, however any shortcomings would pale in comparison to the benefit that would come from it. Thanks again for always sharing your knowledge with the world.

The above is by no means trying to discredit anyone since that would be arrogance, would cause of sin-able Fitna, of arguable an extremely high degree, apart of being way above my pay-scale, since it is only He that is The Judge! It shouldn't be one or the other, preferably both. It also shouldn't be about quantity, but rather quality. These are two platforms for different reasons or purposes that they serve. What can one read into the above Statistic mean? I wouldn't mind a take on this, please? Allahu A'alam

In the 48 minute mark he says that the واو in the verse is not واو العطف. However, according to Tantawi - شيخ الازهر, in his book نور البقين، it is واو العطف.

May Allah bless you sheikh Hamza Yusuf. You said that same sex attraction is something people might be born with. In this case is it permitted to make dua to Allah to make you a normal person (attracted to the opposite sex) or is it prohibited to go against His will and accept that he made you one of the marginalized people, without trying to understand because you know, Allah alone knows why he takes away things from certain people ? And in this case how can someone explain it to their parents when there’s no mariage in perspective ? Thank you for your answer in advance and jazaka Allah khayrane.

I have a genuine question, I remembered the story where Sheikh Hamza a friend of his because the friend had doubt about Islam. I think it's a famous story on youtube. So my question is, the increase in suicides that's happening to the people in Syria, not suicide bombers, kids killing themselves, may I know, if it's permissible? I understand suicide is definitely not permissible, but kids and those age below 20 killing themselves... What is their right to do it? Or they are wrong to do it? Even if they done it, are they going jannah? They are kids...
