Nixon was a great scholar of modern American history. From his time as a congressman in the late 1940's until his resignation in 1974 no politician lived and better served that period, with his pulse on the mainstream American people. Not an easy period in American history to which we can easily understand. Even the best scholars are in a state of bafflement over the domestic and foreign policies that took place in that 30 year period.

He seems relieved. Politics is a nasty business. He got caught, but he surely is not alone in deed by other presidents and there campaigns. I find it funny how some naively righteous people get animated reflecting on the Nixon scandal. If we only knew about those who haven’t been caught.

Ah, the old "everybody does it defense." If the "everybody does it defense" was a legitimate reason not to punish when one is proven to have committed a crime or crimeS, few people would ever get punished for ANYTHING! I find it funny that some use the woman at the well story from the Bible with Christ saying "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" putting a stop to the stoning as an example when someone is caught in wrong doing.. They don't seem to understand that there is a vast different in removing someone from political office and LITERALLY STOING SOMEONE TO DEATH!

nixon is an intelligent person. the issue here is that reelection committee of his caused the problem and he had to covered it up. The functionality of the reelection committee really does raised eyebrow, is called playing dirty

@@kennedy3682 to put it like that well...bidens already doing that. I meant that even after his crimes he still conducted himself in a proffesional manner with respect and dignity. That is what the world needs again some decency!

@@Mike-so2qx why are you deflecting onto biden and what made you think that I don't think biden is corrupt? nothing professional or dignified about him resigning before he could face the repercussions of his actions. mind you he tried to stop the release of the tapes, lied to his country just to double down on it, and (tried to) censor documents exposing his war crimes from the press. the world doesn't need nixon and he did us a favor by resigning, it's just too bad that he didn't face prison.

@@kennedy3682 he did this and then personally resigned when it came out that it was him. when he very well could've stayed in office. and i PROMISE you, this was not the first time a president has done something like this, and absolutely was not the last (considering who our current president is.)

Nixon will always be stained by being forced from office. Not a great POTUS, but at least he was one who wouldn't try to attempt an insurrection to stay in office.

While his wounds were self-inflicted, it certainly must have been very difficult to get through all of this. He, at least, had the character to do the right thing in the end which is far more than what I can say about Trump.

It wasn’t character. Nixon had no choice but to resign when his support collapsed among the public and Congress; had he refused to step down, impeachment was imminent. Unfortunately for Nixon, his presidency came too early for him to benefit from the support of hyper-partisan conservative media that could’ve kept Republicans loyal to him.

You have to respect him . He was a republican president and he was caught in crimes. He waited a little while till he realised he was done, then for his love for the nation over himself he left. There's no chance of that happening again. He was the finest of the Republicans. Evil and yet had character of a sort.
