Begin was a lion. He was not intimidated by anyone and was utterly defiant when it came to his prinicples.

Oy vey, don't forget he was also a terrorist! A man of such "principles" that he had no problem ordering the bombing of the king david hotel, just to destroy the documents incriminating another zionist terrorist group in terrorist acts against the British.

Menachem Begin was married to his wife Aliza for 43 years until her passing in 1982. He was on a Jewish fundraising trip in Los Angeles when he found out she had passed away in Israel. From that time on Begin went into a deep depression and essentially withdrew from political and public life until his death in 1992

They were burning Beirut during that month. I was 6 years old and almost got killed from Israeli air raid while i was returning home from school. Reagan gave green light for Begin to make that step. I wonder how many pain and sorrows were shown on the faces of the victims in Beirut as well.

@@nir766 hahaha are you Israeli?? if yes i wont be surprised with you are saying. First of all try to speak in a proper English to understand you. Second you had deceived the world enough with your lies and fake propaganda. Those what you call: "Militant Islamic Orgnizations" have been either created directly by you and the Americans or they were breaded as a result of your policies. If there was a true peace and fair peace in the region we would have not seen all these bullshits around

Reagan suffered from severe alzheimers disease and a total lost of memory before death while Begin suffered chronic mental depression whereby he locked himself in isolation away from public view. Both could have achieved a comprehensive middle East peace if they sincerely wanted to but they preferred not to.

Begin refused to take any step towards peace with the Palestinians. He would have never achieved peace, even without his depression...

I could invite all of the sincerely peace minded palestinians over for dinner unannounced and my wife wouldn't even be annoyed. These people don't want peace. They want nothing less than everything. You have to look no further than Gaza but there are many more examples where Israel was ready to make huge and painful concessions for peace but they turned out horribly for Israel due to the bad faith responses from the palestinians. It won't happen again.
