Kenya will allocate land to South Sudan for the construction of a dry port in Mombasa, to facilitate cost effective movement of goods from the port of Mombasa to South Sudan. This disclosure was made by President William Ruto, when he met South Sudan president Salva Kir Mayardit in Juba. Ruto, who made a one day official visit to South Sudan, accompanied by roads and transport cabinet secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, held bilateral talks with his host president Salva Kir, who called for removal of restrictions that made it difficult for traders from South Sudan to clear their goods. During the meeting, the two presidents resolved that South Sudan traders will have an option of clearing their goods from the port of Mombasa, Nairobi or Naivasha. The meeting also assessed progress on the construction of infrastructure along the Lapsett corridor and peace and security efforts between the two nations
