President Salva Kiir shows scarred presidential compound

It's been almost two weeks since fighting erupted outside the presidential compound in Juba. That triggered a wave of violence in which almost three hundred people were killed. Now, the President Salva Kiir has given CCTV a tour of his battle-scarred residence. And he's been recounting what happened on that day.

South Sudan fought to breakaway from Sudan. Why are you still fighting? Why African politicians love themselves more than their people? Let stop the fighting and start developing.

South Sudan will not go forward if the people keep fighting against each other. The problem is, these tribes don’t see themselves as south Sudanese people, they see them as Dinka, Nuer, Mundari etc. The tribes need to stop fighting and realize they are all South Sudanese at the end of the day. Once they see that and stop fighting, they’ll move foreward

He is the best leader for south Sudan, I don't see anyone else with the gentleness he has, anyone else trying to take he's place has bad intentions, why would you carry a pistol to take someone out, he saved you first and got you to safety.

@@awangthier407 All I know is that these two have been feuding for so long. After that, anything is possible. Silvar Kiir's story might be true, or, he might have orchestrated everything just discredit the vice president. Going on TV and airing these allegations could reignite South Sudan's civil war. Why would he do that? Is he calculating that an all out war would make it easier to eliminate Riek Machar so he doesn't have to abide by the West's power-sharing conditions?

Humans can see proof right in front of them, yet they’d rather go believe words of a charismatic manipulative person like Riek Machar or refuse to acknowledge the President’s right. Why do people expect this one government to allow the rebels to overthrow them, and anytime it attempts to defend itself, only met with extreme criticism.

Or wasn't it our point, that was the cause of and the sustainability of our rebellion, or stand up, to fight?
